(1) Get rid of any PWD100s now. They are changing to ECM type from MODx in the new patch. The old MODx ones won't work after the patch.

(2) Because of technical problems at Netdevil, the Test Team which has been responsible for a huge amount of progress over the last year has not been able to participate much in the work on this patch.

This means if there's anything to complain about in 1.0093, and there will be, I want you to blame me, not them. I'll work on rebalancing things if necessary, but this patch has to get released.

I think various good things have been put into the 1.0093 patch, or obviously I wouldn't have put them in. However, holding up this patch further is restricting my ability to make progress on important tasks scheduled for the rest of 2004. We need to move forward, even if that means some things in this patch will have to be revisited over the next few months. By then, the technical problems here should be long solved and any revisiting should take less development time.

I am hopeful that folks agree moving forward now is worth it.

-Addressed remaining gate-layering issues due to recent render changes.

-Adjusted server chatlogging functions to provide for easier moderation and enforcement efforts.

-Added new moderator functions for GMs, to help with enforcement efforts.

-Implemented a new command for the US server to reduce time taken by Themis GMs to do certain administrative tasks.

-Added new slash command "/vouch ", only available to rank 49 & 50 pilots. This allows an Optimus/Alterion to sacrifice PR to improve another pilot's PR with the high-ranker's faction.

-Changed PR decay system slightly: negative PR will now automatically decay only up to -60.

-Altered the ship explosion graphics so that the texture used is appropriate to the object exploding.

-Adjusted food/water and ammo/armor/fuel portions of the consumption code. Amounts consumed should both be lower and more accurately based on player activity.

-Enabled toggling system for ECM use. Antiradars may be toggled. Antiflux and Whistle are "always on" until changes pending in conflux project patch can be completed.

-Added new Jammer ECM device for use against missiles. All ECM use defaults to the 'X' key. The Jammer drains power while active for 10 seconds and has a 90 second delay before re-use.

-Converted the PWD100 MODx to an ECM type device. Use of the PWD consumes a burst of power and some fuel (for the plasma), and has a 30 second recharge delay.

-Adjusted ECM slots on selected combat ships in an effort to balance access to and usage of the new antimissile ECMs.

-Added new Droptank device. This is implemented as a missile. When "fired", the tank empties its fuel load into the onboard tank and is jettisoned.

-Small usability and balance tweaks to Injustice, Warper, Featherfire, and Spitfire guns.

-Addressed a missile-related bug specific to the Cutlass missile that could result in a client CTD.

-Adjusted missile code to resolve the "zero-V missile bug", in which missiles performed poorly if the target was sitting still.

-Implemented additional KTRI message "slots" for GM use, to allow a queue of several public-address messages.

-Corrected a bug in the display of Naval Yard domes when a storm is present in sector.

-Rendered the cave asteroid types subject to mining.

-Adjusted the ore content of asteroids to be about 20% greater for each size category.

-Altered Fast Transport class of ships to have sz2 radar sockets so that it is easier for FT pilots to notice and flee from potential hostiles.

-Altered Flashfire indicator on HUD to visibly show when a Flashfire is running, in addition to the existing auditory cues.

-Changed the Nano Assemblers (and Hydroponics Units) so that a default load from use of the building is 10 units instead of 1 unit. This is limited by cargo capacity available.

-Replaced the ****pit graphic for the Solrain Intruder HF with a version that has a black rectangle behind the radar area. All Oct ****pits are being examined for future changes.

-Adjusted data rates in an attempt to improve transfer of location information for ships using a Flashfire (i.e. to reduce 'warping').

-Corrected a graphical glitch that caused building tubes to not render in the HUD image.

-The mission text for commodities was changed to remove economy information that has become inaccurate over the years since original release.

-Ore Depot buildings now assign ore delivery missions (appear as a Mining type) to the owning factional Depot station for players who visit with no mission and no ore in their cargo hold.

-Fixed problems with .mcb (macro) and .chn (last channel storage) files not correctly being used when changing accounts. Macros can no longer be set in Offline mode.

-Restored the "Booth channel set to (chn)" feedback, missing due to a bug introduced in an earlier patch.

-Prevented death condition in "conflux kills pilot stuck in tube" bug. Client may still need restart if connection to server is latent, but death from flux damage should no longer occur.

-Corrected Hyperial Faction Mission PR bug causing Hyp Mining FMs to give Aman or other PR credit.

-Adjusted regular cargo mission and cargo faction mission delivery handling by station markets.

I don't like the /vouch command. Reminds me too much of the "commissioned pilot" program.

It makes PR a tradeable commodity. People can go off raise hell and then have their friends and/or squadmates, who are off running missions or something else that raises their PR, /vouch for them. Or the /vouch PR could be used to pay for escorts or other services instead of cash.

Now I'm not saying that's a good thing - I believe it's a game mechanic and should not be tradeable as much as being able to type /level and cause someone else to gain a level at the sacrifice of one of your own. But it does add something new for the PvPers to ask for when bargaining and is only replenishable through hard work (not to say that making stuff and stocking it isn't hard work enough, but it can be a sideffect thereof).

uh relize its somthing only an lvl 50 pilot can give (or last time i checked it was)
look at the flip side it acctually makes the lvl 50 pilot worth something. even in real life there is a vouch system of sorts and weve seen it during the elections. very important person A endorses not so important person B making not so important person B seem to be more important(irony the person b is only important in real life till person a is found to be an jerk). Basically it is there for the lvl 50 peep help low lvl pilots get things that they are not normaly able to get..with out more work..I do agree there are down sides to the system but also up sides it gives the optima something he can give to younger pilots besides the wizdom thats ussualy aquired while making it to optima....another use would be in fighting one of the squad gets bountied so the lvl 50 peep in squad sacrafices around 80 pr to help pilot get back above zero before anyone decides its an easy bounty to pick up on.after losing 80 points the lvl 50 peep has reason to fly and lower pilot has reason to help the person whom just helped him

It's L49 and L50 that can vouch for someone.

I don't, however, see where it's open to rampant abuse, given the rather significant PR drop that the vouching pilot gets hit with to vouch, making one vouch pretty much take the high-ranker out of the picture till he can rebuild his PR back from 45 (often even less than that, unless the voucher keeps his home faction PR maxed), which even with fast transport runs would take 12-15 missions to get it back up enough to vouch for someone again.

Also, both need to be docked, so it's not like the high-ranker can just wander by and /vouch J. Random Civver back to positive PR so he (has there ever been a recorded case of a female pilot going on a civ-spree or otherwise being a sphincter-licker of that degree?) can continue on with civving. (Granted, though, with POSes it's not as hard as it once was to find a place to dock.)
