Not to tear down your arguement, but there are more and more people in the US having to cut costs and change the way they live due to the horrible economy, rising cost of living, and more and more companies @#$%ing over their employees.

You are right, some people have had to go as far as to quit gaming completely, sell their PCs/Consoles just to continue feeding themselves.

Right now 1 in 10 homes are empty in the town I live in so I suspect money is hard to come by now.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Awen doesn't have her own fair share of financial issues, but I do agree we need to point out there are many people out there struggling to make ends meet.

I myself have spent 5 bucks on one online flash based game and spent 3 months playing it and having a ton of fun (urban-rivals.com a card game), and I've spent 20 bucks to get Counterstrike over a year ago and I've spent countless hours playing that for free. For me, video games are a cheap alternative to going out to have fun as it saves me in gas money and keeps me from buying food or entertainment that I don't need.

Now if I can get my billing fixxed so I'm not paying 1/3 more than normal, stupid non-credit card price increase

Non-credit card is not an increase -- it was always higher.

Re: Stats for Inactive Accounts

$15 is cheap, free is cheaper, and both are available. You shouldn't hold it against ND if you can't afford standard MMO prices, there are plenty of free games to entertain yourself with.

That being said, the $9.95/mo for a game with halted development and a very uncertain future is a terrible rip off though it might be good business. Particularly offensive because of the many people who have maintained a subscription in the hopes that the game would eventually get better (I'm not included in that group by the way, I only pay when I play )

Re: Stats for Inactive Accounts

..but what about the stats for Inactive Accounts?

Seriously guys, Awen isn't responsible for any of the pricing and has no control over it. I tend to agree with her on the cost/value ratio of the current billing (either $9.95 or $12.95 or hell, $15.00) but there's no doubt a LOT of us here in the US and worldwide are hurting financially. My ISP and Jumpgate are the least expendable "luxuries" in my budget. I more than covered the price of both when I gave up smoking in '04 so I'm not going to complain about their costs.

Re: Stats for Inactive Accounts

One year subscription from $10 to $15 is a difference of $60 annually. And I don't like pissing away $60 more dollars a year. Your game is gonna cost $50 or so up-front, and it's gonna cost me $180 a year to play. That's a lot of money, I don't care how much dough you're swimming in.

Look, i'm not *that* stingy. I've had one (and often times more then one) active account in Jumpgate since retail released, because I support ND even though they dont support our game very much... Even when I aint playing it.

Jumpgate was a good deal at $10, but the recent trend of MMO's charging $15 I just personally feel is highway robbery. I know it was a big deal to convince some of my friends to spend $10 a month on Jumpgate, as an example.

I might pay $15 a month, because i'm addicted to Jumpgate, I keep coming back for more abuse. However, it will be a tough sell for my friends and other people who do not know how sweet the high is in Jumpgate.

LOL . . . how do you feel about (literally) pissing away $20-30 of beer on a single Saturday night?

Re: Stats for Inactive Accounts

Then your burning it up instead of pissing it away (not to mention cost of munchies) -- but same analogy applies. The difference between $10 a month and $15 a month is less than $0.20 a day.

Re: Stats for Inactive Accounts

if we go the Second Life route, perhaps when I pirate someone I could get real money from them? Then I could use that to afford the extra $5 a month.

Re: Stats for Inactive Accounts

I'd pay $15, if the game were worth it. I'd pay $30, if the game were worth it. I pay a whole bunch more for other things, because they are worth it. (Course, it'd have to be one helluva game for $30 )
