I was asked in jumpgate about what is the most active fansite. And people pointed out joystickrequired.

Personally, what the Jumpgate section of JSR needs is a seperate news section like planetjumpgate where you post IC news and whats going on in the in-game universe, and a screenshot gallery.. And of course, patches. I know JumpgateWeb exist but it's full of ex-jumpgaters who hate this game. I also know theres Jumpgate on warcry but it's been dead for ages.

And Jumpgate section on JSR also needs a short domain instead of telling people "joystickterquired.com and then click on jumpgate". How about Jumpgate.joystickrequired.com?

Or something shorter?

http://joystickrequired.com/jg works as a link to redirect to the Jumpgate forums. We are having issues with subdomain functionality that needs to be worked out so the other way doesn't work at this time.

As far as the rest there is Plot and events forum.

I'm not sure what more I can do here for Jumpgate. Yes, PJG was cool, but Jumpgate doesn't have that kind of player numbers and even when it did, Gossip decided to move on.

It takes a lot of effort to run a fan site. Takes a lot of cash too, if you want to do it right. If I remember right, PJG was up to $200 a month in costs when it was closed down. Mine is about $90 currently. With the minimal donations and the fact that noone visits our sponsors, that leaves me at about $80 a month coming out of my pocket.

It has come to my conclusion that the majority of Jumpgate players have no use for fansites and have little interest in community. Some statistics

Inactive Users: 43.36 % (173) have never posted*

Visits of registered Members for the last 30, 14 and 7 days
The last 30 days: 29.82 % (119)

Many want to just use my tools without ever being part of the community, without ever reading any posts here (or posting themselves), or even have a grateful attitude about the tools provided. Mostly, they just complain about the registration requirement.

I would love to do so much more for the community but what I have done so far has accomplished nothing. Plus at this time due to circumstances beyond my control I don't even have a computer to play the game or even code with. So things are idle for now.

I have asked many many times for volunteers, writers, etc. With little to no response. So I'm kind of numb to it all.

Yes Jumpgate needs so much more, but the community isn't asking for more and from my experience would not respond to more.

Hey Jump what is required for visiting your sponsors? Is it just a matter of clicking on their site or do I have to buy something. If it is just a matter of clicking on the site I'll be more than happy to click away. If I have to buy something then I'm kinda outta luck on that because I dont have alot of money to spare.

Well, the go ogle adds simply need to be clicked and then something clicked on the destination site. Of course, I always encourage our members to support our sponsors if they have something of interest.

The Amazon links and search give us 5% of any shipped item. So if you ever buy something from Amazon search for it here and then pruchase using that link. We get 5% and it costs you no more.

The banners pay by purchase, but we have never had one yet. Including that game you play.

Other than that, we always take donations.

Yeah currently, I wanted post at the JSR forums but I apologize for making another account but that other computer which remembers the password of the previoous account name and the email registerd to it, I am currently doing a RAM test on it so I won't be able to access that computer until tomorrow.

My password is so secure that I don't even remember it. So right now I'm on another computer besides mine at home.

Sure, just search for it using the Amazon search at the top of any forum page. Then purchase from that link.

I really hope someone purchses an Amazon product soon. Our account has been sitting at a $6.66 for some time now and I must attribute that to the recent series of unfortunate events.

Also, any Amazon link to a product posted on these forums automatically has our code inserted so that if it is clicked and a purchase made, we get a cut.

What sucks is I can't use the links. I can understand that with text add clicking. But what's it matter if I or someone else is buying something and spending cash. *shrugs*
