PPS: You are all drifting off topic. Can we please go back to Themis-bashing? It's been more than a month since our last round of that.

PPPS: What does PPS stand for?

post-post-script.

It's just a shame to me that someone as respected as Ambro has adopted the "quick! pretend everything is okay!" attitude. Ofcourse, he HAS been working more closely with the GMs since he started that Darkspace Dispatch thing.

Lupin, I asked for a public place, a public place for which to discuss the matter at hand with the GMs. They refuse. Its like a Father Knows Best state...

TG are kings in their own little world and they have no desire to be rational or to discuss things that matter in a rational way. If you dont play the game their way they will kick you out of the sand box.

Yeah, I figured this would get thrown in my face. Frankly, I have very little contact with Themis -- more with Istvan. It really has no impact on my opinion. The things I do for Jumpgate -- like DSD -- are because I care about the game. My opinions expressed here and elsewhere are because I care about the came.

I never claimed that there was nothing wrong with the game. My claim is that the juvenile community has done fare, far, FAR more to hurt the game than the various instances of mismanagement.

The juvenile community is a significant presence in all MMOG's, and every single one has to deal with them. The reason they've been so detrimental to Jumpgate is because the GM's have done a poor job of managing them, and because Jumpgate is uniquely susceptible to outside activities (forum fights) affecting gameplay. As an example, in WoW I could bash someone on the forums all day long and not have to worry about in-game consequences, unless I CHOSE to be on a PvP server with the person I was bashing. Jumpgate has no such system, for better or worse.

But to be fair, I don't believe Themis has ever been given an unfettered opportunity to manage the community the way that they would like. They are working within a budget, which we all know is next to nothing. That being said, within their budget constraints they've done a very poor job, with Khronos being the one bright spot.

Well if you include the people that civ others out of the game as part of the 'juvenile community', ya. But omg, I shouldn't say that because someone might be looking at Jumpgate, and heaven forbid they find out if someone decides they don't like you they can rip you ad nauseum.

I'm just curious, what the obsession is about wanting to what the investigation disclosed? I don't know who locked or moved the threads until i read Lupin's post here. Hell i honestly don't even know what happened as i don't generally read the JOSSH forums too regularly. I'm usually in the :help channel because i don't play the game for drama. I never even had a run in with Cobra.

Any GM or EP could have locked and or moved the threads...i realize that Themis has made a lot of mistakes in the past..... but damn you kids like to point fingers when you don't even know...and it drives me batty. As an Empowered Player, we are able to moderate and edit posts. It's at our discretion if things seem to be getting out of hand to avoid the flamewar and pointless banter. Sure, you may not agree with our decisions all the time. We don't always agree with eachother. We have different opinions as to what is acceptable and what is not. Lupin decided it's be best to move on with life and remove the dead horse beating post that people kept posting over and over about. Can't you guys step back and respect that he didn't do it to piss you off. He removed it because there was no point...the GM's aren't going to disclose personal affairs to the public.

I understand what you say Grimmy... about the post being left up since it had a GM response... so i dug up the response and will post it below.

As DireCoyote said, I'm not permitted to disclose details of any action undertaken. Anyone wishing to discuss the matter further is welcome to PM me or email pilot_support@netdevil.com to register your feelings, though, again, I won't be disclosing anything regarding the results of our investigation. Let's get this forum back to events and plot, alright?

Edit: I'm going to go ahead and shut this, since we've resolved the matter. Feedback, thoughts, or further discussion can take place in my PM box or via support email.

It's hard to distinguish the two, since more than anything else Themis' incompetent management has fostered that behaviour. If you count some of the retarded instances of game design, then I would frankly disagree wholesale.

I count everything. IMO, if you throw it all into the pot the biggest problem is retarded behavior, not design or management.

Management is the problem Ambro. Not directly, but still.

ND/Themis never really enforced behaviour policy like we now face in Jumpgate.
It was most likely due to lack of $$ for the game. And just like in any other game, we did get couple bad apples. This unfortunatly was getting worse until we lost chat on jossh forums (and mainly cuz there was PJG, at least until it was closed). Since PJG was mostly unmoderated, after it's closing, there was no big fan site for Jumpgate. All the players from PJG, of course went back to jossh forums.

The point is, since ND/Themis never really enforce good behaviour until recently, community got worse until the point that something had to be done. What was done, wasn't pretty.

Sure, we can blame players for bad behaviour. But it is also in company's best interest to keep game free of smack tards, griefers, and lamers.

Since Jumpgate was/is rather open community (read: we basicly decided what was bad and good), we are now paying the price for it. Not everyone is happy with what is considered good or bad.

I'm sorry Ambro, but your statement basicly states that every single player is responsible for the actions of a few.

I see it as an effect of multiple failures. Both from the management and community.

Right on Radi. The behavior of other pilots can only be affected by us (other players) to a very minimal degree. There are times when GMs must step and deal with things. For too long, they didn't, and when they started too many people were too used to them n
