Elmdor - I am the one that moderated the plot forums. Shadowthorn responded and their post was up for a while. Continuing to beat a dead horse and rant about someone who Themis decided to take action on (ban) serves no possible constructive purpose and is not the purpose of those forums. FYI, it was not me who deleted your query/response to me, it was a GM.

My response to you would have be along the lines of (re: public area to address GMs) Plot Discussion is fine if the question relates to current/proposed events or RP lines, Help for general game questions/problems with software. If you have a problem with another player's actions in game, then you need to email pilot_support@netdevil.com.

It is not anything personal mind you, just doing what we can to maintain civility, maturity, and a properly focused set of forums. Perhaps instead of decrying a lack of apparent means to communicate with GMs, you could take a constructive approach and post in the Suggestions thread that perhaps there should be a thread similar to the Bug Reporting one where players and GM's can communicate with one another directly on issues, but the conversation is visible only to the poster and the GMs.

That might go along way to addressing your concerns. Remember that GMs are always available at pilot_support@netdevil.com.

I don't see why the locked threads were removed, since they held an actual GM response that action had been taken. Removing that made it seem as though no action had been taken, and that the matter wasn't "settled".

IMO the constant forum whining, flaming and bashing has done far more damage to Jumpgate than Themis and 3DO combined -- and that's not an easy task. Nice work all.

So if we had no forums to complain on, the lack of advertising, bomber patch, EP2 debacle, death of jossh, and all of TG's police state antics (etc, etc, etc) would have never cost the game players?

On a serious note, assuming the majority of the complaining is legitimate, I have a difficult time seeing how that's going to kill Jumpgate's future player base. I kinda see it as hiding the online numbers tracker...people are going to eventually realize the truth about the numbers after they join or investigate further.

No, but perhaps if the people with nothing positive to contribute would STFU, the (Jumpgate) world would be a better place. Complaining and flaming serve no constructive purpose other than self-gratification.

Whining about the bomber patch and ship balance in general worked. Changes were eventually implemented with a saner policy of involving people that had a clue about ship balance in balancing ships.

Whining about EP2 signifigantly steered Istvan (at least in philosophy) away from big huge gamechanging patches that run years overdue and require another year of bugfixes to make work. Probably for the best.

TG has actually "responded" to player commentary on their antics once in awhile. Although I do miss Trogdor telling people to f-off in his emails.
And the CCJ. I was going to grief Synergy out of the game with that.
So maybe whining about TG suckage hasn't helped in my evil objectives, although Synergy is gone anyway.

Oh, and they fixed the Blunder just before nerfing tows into uselessness. That took about 3 years of steady whining. Maybe in another 3 years the tows will be worthwhile again.

Oh, and I've found that I'm entirely self-gratified!

I agree about flaming, complaining highlights problems and potential problems. Playing video games IS self-g
