Re: what do you see?

I agree... if they do not do nothing about econ, then all that other stuff will be for nothing. The problem with Jumpgate is if you want to only PVP, you can't.

It takes to much effort to make some equip. So homing on someone else's pos is expensive cause he will want to charge you for the effort he gave in making all that equip(thats ok, but). Then you lose to much for every death. And if you do not have income, you will soon be broke. Like I am.

SO you then need to go buy a miner. Witch you will spend a week in(depending on how much you play per day) making money. But you cant just make 20 mil and shift back to a fighter, cause you will be back on the same road as before you lost all the money.

Imagine doing all this without having a Hangar(90mill+10mill pos and 40mill market). Switching ships, looking for right equip. only that makes you want to give up.

The game is easy for those who just want to mine or haul., they dont lose their money as fast as heavy PVP players.

So if you want to be a pvp player, you need a POS 140mill, then you need equip for the same amount or maybe more, then you need some cash for missiles and FFs and other losses you make every launch. So lets say 500mill is enough, Do you know how much time it takes to earn 500mill + the time it takes to level to buy a HM for a noob.

Then the question is, IS this Grinding?
and lets not talk about how much a pirate is losing. cause we hate pirates and they dont belong in this game.. right? lol

Re: what do you see?

Look again...as I have posted in another thread as well....Netdevil's website now has rolling images....switching as you refresh. Plenty of new Jumpgate pics are available to view, some ships, stations, and nice pics of the redesigned jumpgates themselves.

In-game screenshots? If so, it looks nice.

Yes, they are in-game screens.

Re: what do you see?

Oh. My. God.

Just dropped in and seen this. Think a few players could return if this actually happens, me included if they sort out the billing.

And I also hope the economy changes, but to bring more of the eco-only players back and keep them hooked. I want to mine fancy looking asteroids. I want to fly my bump mapped specular lit tow slowly through space wondering if a pirate will take me down but knowing that the risk is worth the profit. Trust me, get the economy right and the "PVP only" crowd will have everything they need.

Re: what do you see?

How do you know that they are in game? I have seen lots of "screen shots" for games that were supposed to be in game, but when I try the game, it sure does not look like the shots that I saw.

Interesting . . . if you caputure the screenshots and mask out all blue, the words "Paul is dead" can be seen in the background.

Re: what do you see?

While looking at the new semi-hidden Jumpgate screenies on ND's sight I noticed the "Warmonger" game they are developing. I'll be interested to learn more about that one as well. Is it being developed as an MMO? Is it an FPS ladder type game like COD etc? I'll be interested to lean more.

I'm not happy with everything ND does but I do like that fact that they seem willing to take some risks with the unique games they put out.

Re: what do you see?

Like the risk of when all said and done the player base for Jumpgate goes back to being just about ready to implode on its self after every one has left again once the novelty has worn off.

It's not an MMO that I know of, it as an FPS game that uses a PhysX graphics card. Scorch did an interview where he described a "next-gen" game environment where a sniper could blow out the stairs behind him on his way to a perch to keep people from sneaking up on him, or a guy with a rocket launcher could blow out a solid wall to gain entry to a building if the door is camped.

Don't get me wrong...I've had plenty of criticism for EP2. I've come back twice since it was released but it was just way too much "work" to get kit after getting killed in a battle. I've mined, hauled and killed flux but my main reason for playing was PvP and that was seriously hurt by the revamped economy. If they release another retail version of Jumpgate or significantly change what they've currently got I may give it a go again. I do admire some of the risks ND takes when developing games. They are creative and they have some balls. I see very few other game companies even trying to push the envelope the way ND tries to.
