What I like about Jumpgate
Since Jump asked for it in the now closed thread...
![]() What I like about Jumpgate... * The "Elite"-like "HOTAS" flight engine * The fact that it is a persistent universe where my actions can actually make a lasting impact. This also includes the mining-based economy system, which I rather like too ![]() * The small but extremely dedicated community. Most of which are quite friendly and helpful, too ![]() * The fact that it still runs smoothly on my old below-GHz machine, which most other MMOGs don't |

where to start
![]() - as was noted, the flight engine is simply without an equal. - the community is such that it is easy to meet people, and make lasting friendships. Some of the other MMO are so huge that unless you knew people before going into the game, it's hard to keep knowing people throughout your career in the game (just mho) ( Guild Wars for example, a lot of transient contacts during missions but so many, so often, nothing seems quite as lasting.) - variety! Many different ships which do effectively serve different purposes. Many different ways to outfit said ships to match personal preferences and styles of flight. - I love my joystick, and Jumpgate lets me take great advantage of all the features of my js (x52) - The manufacturing does include enough complexity to be challenging, and hence rewarding, for those into that type of thing. - How many games have their very own radio stations, with relevant adverts related to components actually found in game. - I'm sure there's more, but I'm hungry ![]() |

The way people with little or no knowledge of what they are talking about can make others think they are so right when it comes to their point of view.

What I love.....
The ability to fly and not have to do anything at all except fly. A coworker once asked me, "Still flying? Is that all you do in that game?" I just smiled and said "Yep." To which he replied, "Sounds boring, why don't you shoot something or do something?" To which I smiled and said, "I am doing something, I am flying, just flying." |

What I love is the people, the community. I'm closer to some of you people I've never seen than I am with some of my co-workers I see every day. I get to "meet" folks from around the world; work with them; fight with them; interact with them. I get to associate with people who are vastly smarter than I am and some who are infinitely more stupid. So yeah, I love the people and the community.
I love the variety of the game. No matter what you do or how well or poorly you do it, there's a place for you in this game. Mine, produce, haul, arti hunt, flux, pirate or PvP the only true limits in the game are your own limitations. Of course it's not all it could be GG! It's just a baby and it's still growing and changing. Like a kid who's short and fat at the end of the school year and tall and skinny when school starts back up that fall. The game evolves and changes, not perhaps as quickly as some would wish and too fast for others. I get frustrated too and I have ideas that aren't always well received but this "just a game" has brought a hell of a lot of enjoyment to my life. Custardx was talking about IC and OOC, but like Popeye, "I yam what I yam and that's all what I yam" or the old WYSIWYG. My game persona is what I'd like to be all the time instead of just in-game. This game is not the "be-all/end-all" or the "Alpha and Omega". It's simply the best game around and some of the best people in the world play it. |

the flight engine is simply without an equal. The small but extremely dedicated community.
