I have heard constant quick snippets that "the MT patch ruined PvP".

While I don't doubt this is the truth I simply have no idea what the MT patch was/is and am curious so I am not out of the loop on this...

I have been tossing around the idea of reactivating just to knock the rust off my piloting and am curious what is so new? I can't rip kiadevil's anymore?

MT patch is military enrollment patch. Basically for PvP in empire space (unreg is still a free for all) Honor guard is gone, and MT's fight each other, only if factions are at war. So Solrain MT pilots can only shoot Quant and Oct MT pilots if the war meter is moved over to war by lots of fighting, and military missions.

I think of it as structured fighting. You can't shoot that other MT solrain pilot next to you that is mouthing off without taking a demerit, or in you case that other Quant MT pilot next to you.

It's a horrible, badly-implemented joke that eliminates numerous pilot roleplays.

So why doesn't everyone just fly tagless? Or is there some odd penalty for that as well?

tagless = civ vs civ fights, bounties and all that messy kinda stuff. Before the MT patch Honor guard vs any other Honor guard, so mixed fleets with sol fighting sol's was possible. Now it's head to unreg for your fighting unless your MT and find another MT from the faction you are at war with.

Oh God...so basically since QUants could never be at war with quants we could've never done the AQM v Brotherhood Civil war RP and stuff...that is just terrible.

So basically if I spotted an enemy fighter pilot I would basically have to f4 him and politely ask him if we can take it outside (unreg) so that we can engage in a friendly bout of fisticuffs. But hold on lets wait til we get two sectors into unreg so that we can use the jumpgates with out ending up back in reg space...and maybe we could clear the flux together first...

Guess we should just settle all disputes in the simulator...lame.

There was going to be a second MT patch, that would from my understand, enable poeple to sign up MT for other factions, thus me a sol could sign up with Oct, who if at war with sol at the time, would enable me to shot other solrain MT pilots. But alas there just wasn't enough manpower, and Jumpgate Evolution took all our resources away.

But I'm sure once we are all in Jumpgate Evolution most of us will be glad they didn't spend to much time updated Jumpgate Classic.

No, because the only "enemy fighters" are those with MT tags in factions with whom you are at war. You are notified of war status when you first log on. You are also notified in-game if it happens to change.

The system has worked decently for most of the PvPers who have been playing, sice most play in factionalist squads. It is the multifactionalists and those who want to do a "criminal" RP that really are not accommodated.

Are you on crack? The majority of squads are multi-factional now, meaning MOST were effected.

The MT patch is so terrible it should have never been allowed to be patched in. Seriously, who builds half a system and ships it.

I could see it now, order a Dell, guy builds it, ohh noes running out of time, I'll just skip the video and sound card, ships it. One pissed off customer.

Also, when they pushed the broken MT system on us, they also changed the pirate/bounty rules and effectively killed that off too.

So to answer your question "What is the MT Patch?" Answer: The worst patch of them all.
