Yes, that's (IMO) a GM thing. You can do pure player-driven without it, but it's both difficult and dangerous.

A reason for flying Military

A neutral faction that you can join (Along the lines of the EEA alliance or several other player created factions)

A neutral section of space between each of the major empires so that escorts would become a priority

Rebalance of equipment so that each faction could equip their entire ship with only faction based equipment (Although suffering a major performance hit over using multi-factional equipment)

A graphics update

NPC traffic

Radio chatter

Re-work Artifiacts

And a method for actually taking over a sector of space

For starters... that would get me interested.
All good...especially the economy fix. If it's a huge pain to get equipment its just not worth it. The first thing my old squaddies and I noticed when EP2 was released were the supply shortages and difficulty in re-equipping....and it just went downhill from there. I'd change POS to hold no equipment....just be repair/rearm/ore processing facilities. This would drive players together at faction stations and increase interaction a hundred fold while leaving POS available for a more limited function.

After getting the supply and economy problems fixed (and only after that) I'd make the game free for 6 months and advertise it to build the player base from there (especially to former players). Sony did this with Planetside using a level cap for the free accounts and the servers are much fuller as a result with many players choosing to pay so they could continue advancing. With Jumpgate I'd go for at least 60 days free for everyone then let those above say level 26 pay to continue using the higher level account. 26 and below free for the full 6 months with the option to "activate" and continue advancing at any time.

Is it me or is this just a US-server thing, that you all want to hold hands and drink tea at faction stations?

any one feel free to pointout if im wrong but im sure we didnt have this urge on the EU server and was quite happy shopping here or there for our equipment.

It must be a US server thing LO. Having to spend large ammounts of time getting "kit" and having an already very thin player base spread out even further (in POS's) really hurt the way we used to play. A huge ammount of politics, economic intrigue and warfare relied on battles between and over various faction stations and supply points. It all relied upon a decent supply of kit too. Most of the real action was player controlled with little or no interaction from our GMs. At 1/10 th the playerbase that logged on pre-EP2 they may as well try the changes outlined imho....they really have nothing to lose.

On that note I have an idea.
Totally scrap the US style of economy.
Then, introduce everything economy wise that was in place on the EU server that was proven to be more successful and attracted 5x more online numbers.

I) I have made one suggestion on missiles in one thread and that was wondering why if I have a slot that can take a s-3 missile why cant it hold 3 x1 missiles which I think was the point of the question poised by the thread.

2) Algore is right this econ is poop, look at the numbers.

3) Oh if forgot you really are the oracle of all things Jumpgate and we should really bow down upon to you because your suggestions ideas are the ones we should all be implementing, because of course you are always right.

4) I have noticed in the Jumpgate forums your spouting complete bolloox which can only been seen as a cheap shot at humour, just don’t give up your day job, for a life in stand up.

With respect. I've played both servers for a long long time and you guys haven't. I'm in a position to comment on the differences whereas you guys are not.
The EU was not CP hell. Yes there were lots of CP's but to suggest it was CP driven shows clearly your complete lack of understanding of what it was like, and your ignorance. As I've said before SS, without a sugar daddy you couldn't have played EU as you were unwilling to give the economy a go.
It's a fact that at the end EU had 5x(conservative multiple) the numbers of US. Does this not show you something?
You guys should have been thanking your lucky stars with the influx of new players after EU demise. All you have done is whine like little girls and driven away the new majority. The mining based economy cannot sustain 40 people online, I wish some would take their heads out of their rears and stop this nonsensical belief that with more players it suddenly could.
There is no economy at present. Mining does not make an economy. Again with respect, I was doing economy over 7 years ago before I started blowing things up.

Regards
Al
Seems to me in all roles on US it requires a few bum lickers to ask for something for it to be made so. Those bum lickers don't nescessarily have to be the most experienced or in the know.

@Al -- No consumers=no economy. Jumpgate has never had a real econ on either of its servers. It was just a matter of moving things around. The chages that have been made allow for a VERY rudimentary econ if there were consumers and econ-workers willing to WORK the econ. More work is needed.

But the EU "econ" was crap. That will never happen here.

@LordO -- Yes, my last few "suggestions" on JOSSH are weak, lame jokes. Then again, so are ALL of your suggestions, so I figured no one would notice.
