Never happened to me actually, I'm referring to a completely seperate incident involving BRC (which I was never part of). BRC was always prepared for the fact that flying HG meant if anyone wanted to kill us we would be killed, however, as I recall BRC wasn't fighting with everyone, including AQM2 (until the incident occured), and just because someone happened to be HG in a freighter or tow or whatever non-combat ship they were flying, GrimGriz thought, "Ooh, free kill." and his reason behind it was "They were HG so they obviously were looking for a fight". Granted, he was HG and GrimGriz was more than welcome to shoot him down since the game allows it, there were no previous hostilities between the squads and the whole situation was just stupid. This type of thinking is exactly why The_Tyke put in his no non-Oct HGs allowed in Oct space.

You have no idea what I think, so quit pretending you do. For the record, I thought the same thing I did about ISU, "No squad tells me what HG tags mean". I've often passed HG miners and left them alone. They just happened to be HG, BRC and ISU were trying to influence how people saw the tags themselves.

Futher, there is absolutely NO reason for non-Octs to be HG in oct space.

Well there is. They are most likely looking for a fight.

I often go HG into Oct space HG. But I just want to flip beacs, I'm not looking to fight.

I was in Oct space last night killing a swarm as a favor to my neighboring faction and as a preventitive measure against the swarm coming to Quant space. I happened to be HG at the time, thus once again CONTEXT rules the day.
I also happened to have a Quant BCU installed and happened to fly through a bunch of beacons, but that was all secondary. :)

Indeed Ambro, it's the Oct pvpers who force their combatative RP on us peaceful HG Quants in their space.

By "helping" octs with the swarm, you indirectly accuse them of being too weak to deal with the conflux menace within your own space, and thus, should be shot.

Allow me to rephrase:
There is no reason for an HG to go into another factions space that cannot be construed to be a reason to shoot said HG.

Ship full of beer experiences a registry computer error, compounded by a navigational computer failure, clogged thrusters, and a hefty tail wind.

Extremists can spin just about anything into a reason to shoot someone. Big deal. That doesn't make them any less stupid or any less bad for gameplay.

When there's a severe number imbalance, foreign friendly HGs are always welcome to help balance the gankage. The extremist who would not accept foreign HG aid would either have to die to the gank repeatedly, go civ to do some non-pvp, cower in a station, or log off.

i.e. octs have 50000 pilots attacking QC, quants are getting beat up w/ their 2 pilots, they call sols and get 60000 pilots to come help them! foreign friendly HG pilots. Then the next day, those 60000 sols are attacking GP, but the octs only have 30000 pilots available to defend. They ring up the quants and make placating noises and beg for help, quants send 25000 pilots to assisst (and steal all their defiers when they're done as payment for their services).

That's a stupid example, 2 Quants could easily take 50,000 octs. Also, the Quants wouldn't help the octs when the sols attacked them.

It's an HG who send a friendly hail before he shoots you.
