It feels wrong there, too slow etc etc yada yada yada.. but the graphics are better, look fresher and the roids ahh the roids, suns, planets...... I wish I wish I wish

Yesterday (as of this post, it's early Tuesday morning ND time) was Odiche's birthday.

You do the math.

aye vendetta online, the games not my cuppa tea - the movement feels too slow and it also feels like your flying through treackle. (you stop the moment you stop thrusting (almost)) but it does have some features much needed in Jumpgate like suns/planets/good roid formations/textures etc.

A cross between Jumpgate and VO would be good, with VO's graphics etc and Jumpgate's movements engine/weapons/ships

Actually, unless they've changed the VO roids, I always though the new Jumpgate roids were much better.

I checked out the VO website after reading this post. That game looks somewhat promising. Can you use a joystick? Are there many people playing?

I also checked out that new game Infinity. I played the prototype game and found it to be pretty fun. The part I don't understand is the decelleration when you lower the throttle. I guess it could be that the engines are virtually backthrusting to stop your ship but I always liked the almost continuous momentum of the Jumpgate engine. You said that VO has that same effect of stopping when throttling down... well how do they explain that? Wouldn't the actual physics of space be much more like Jumpgate but without the drag?

Now that I think about it, though I never got a chance to try it, in the Infinity Prototype there was a key which turned off your thruster equilibrium capability. Maybe this would allow the ship to continue in the direction of momentum.

There is an answer in overview on a front page:

Quote:
The game uses full newtonian physics, but your ship's computer automatically and constantly adjusts your actual speed to your desired (target) speed. You can disable this behavior by pressing the SPACE key, but you then fully go on your existing velocity inertia. You can also use BACKSPACE to reverse your thrusters at any time.

I think these beat Jumpgate's roids imo anyway. No slurr intended to Jumpgate's roids (I'd hate to make emma angry) but rocks like these would look sooo nice in the Jumpgate universe.

Those a much nicer looking than the ones in beta, but I can't really tell (from the size) how they compare to JGs.

EDIT: sorry, did not realize I could click on those. Frankly, I think the Jumpgate skins are comparable -- it's just the underlying models that are a bit clunky.

If I was going to "fix" Jumpgate graphics, I would start with the stations and then do the ships. I would have roids at the end of the list.
