Without wanting to start yet another flame war I would just like to say that DE stopping flying was not because of the civ-war with OV.

During the short lived 1 week civwar, truth is only about 11/12 DE were ripped by OV in that time (i did 90% of the civving in that war so I should know) and of those 7/8 were civ fighters hunting my -125 sol bounty anyway.

When we saw that it was all one way traffic and half of them were not logging in we (Algore) approached DE Command and agreed to put a stop to the civ-war as we felt we had made our point and they had paid enough for their pilots mistake that started the civ-war

If theres a reason DE imploded it was more likely internal problems in DE after the civ-war ended. I got the impression from reading their public forums at the time that things were not all good inside DE at that time. I hardly think OV can take the blaim for that.

Most of the active pilots that DE had are still playing Jumpgate anyway just in different squads & accounts.

I would have to agree with Bad_Mongo.... there was a lot of tension within DE and it crumbled...

When KO first came, i thought they were going to be pro-sol, but they seem to have a bit of everyone in them. OMC has picked up 3 of the old DE guys... basically because they were tired of being shot at.... Corp wars strung out to long and the thrill of PVP kind of died ...(though i do find it strange that the quants who were outnumbered day in and day out, kept on trucking, and the Sols fell apart when we got the upper hand one night). I guess maybe the thrill of Jumpgate, in general, died for some of them.

Tensity has reformed SoLi, but i think that we need more of the higher level Sols (erm, if there are any left) to form a squad and boost the moral of Solrain. There are sol n00blets running around, but i usually see them go to multi-factional groups.... and the warfare patch (because i don't know much about it really) scares me. What will happen to my squad and other multifactional squads?

Anywho.. back to topic.... So, who's going to step up and take over Solrain?

You guys are all focused on PVP.

THE REASON YOU LOST -=MACK=- and most other SOL econ players IS BECAUSE OF THE TOW NERF!

It was fun to fly, you could haul, arti hunt, flux, mine, it was the perfect ship for this type of playerbase.

But others knew better. So now you have your balance but you don't have these players. And they are never coming back. Get over it. Without the economic might of the SOL econ squads, there will be no SOL Empire. Because you have removed the roleplay aspect of SOL. The other two factions still have their unique roleplay angle. But SOL no longer has it's economic aspect that set it apart.

But hey, everything is balanced now and far more realistic than any silly old game.

I don't know if it led to the end of Sol PvP (given that there are still octs and quants), but yeah, the tow nerf was stupid, I don't really know who ever thought it was a good idea.

I believe it did. Ship balance aside, a major part of being a SOL factionalist was the economic might. The ever abundant supply of goods was a desirable thing for a PVP'er. It was also a deterrent to the enemy. Since they often relied on the economic might of the SOL econ squads, they had to think twice before starting something. It helped create the political intrigue that used to make Jumpgate fun for many.

Now, Sol has lost this edge. What is the purpose of being Sol now? None.

It is much more fun to be an angry, warlike Oct or a religious zealot Quant, since there is no more greedy, economic Sol. This factor has been removed and the Role of Sol went with it. Sol is now a backdrop to the storyline like Hyperial.

And I speak as one of them.

Let's just create Jumpgate 2. It's easier that way.

If NetDevil had the balls to make a JG2 Im quite sure it could do very well indeed if they got it right.

The genre is crying out for a decent up to date Elite-like space MMORPG which isnt 'point and yawn' like EVE

The tow nerf was the most stupid and useless change in the last 3 years.
When the majority of testers either don't play anymore or have any real experience in the ship I guess screwups are only natural.
There's a comment to stick in your pipe and smoke.
I don't know why the warefare patch keeps getting mentioned, I'm finding it amusing the new excuses each week/month as to why patches are being delayed.
SOON(TM)
That sound familiar to anyone?

Regards
Al

Vorlon... damn the spam...

Al... i understand your frustration with that.... but when you try to fix something and it breaks 15 other things, it's hard to get ahead. When you're working on the code, and the server dies, it's hard to get ahead. When you're one person.... what do you expect?
