Again I don't agree with the myth that we had less equipment available thus we saw living as some sort of win. There was less money on EU, thus we couldn't afford to die as much, granted. But we rarely ran out of equipment, the reason for this is probably the reason we didn't enter lose-lose engagements like a sheep over the cliff.
As EU was mainly POS economy based a hell of a lot of work went into stocking POS'es in order to be able to pvp efficiently. This work was almost entirely undertaken by those that were pvp'ing. I could be wrong but on US there have always been dedicated haulers and stockers, that are not nescessarily the people that do the majority of pvp on the server. I kinda look at these guys as sugar daddies or mommas.
When you don't have to get the kit yourself, and money is not an object, launching over and over again is not an issue. Unrealistic combat imo as if you have to launch a second time in order to win an engagement, it's kinda like relaunching in a sim competition when you have just been downed. But hey, it is just a game.
In essence dying was seen as a bigger deal on EU for several of the above reasons. Of course there were pansies that would not fight if even numbers, but that's always been the case. The loudmouths that came over to EU with purely pvp skilled pilots and then mocked EU squads that couldn't handle them were very sad imo. A group of competant pilots should always be able to own a squad mixed with traders, miners, haulers, econ guys. US guys are slightly less graceful in victory though:P
I could easily have taken a group of pvp pilots to US and bitch slapped any number of squads on US and behaved the same way, but I guess I couldn't be assed staying up so late every night.
As a side note, I used to play US server in sim when I was too pissed to beat anyone on EU as I was too intoxicated. I just thought I'd add that in for some sort of personal amusement.

Regards
Al

That will likely change. I suspect OMC are the main people still trying to keep gear at real station, and it's a miracle to me they haven't given up yet.

Seeing CCCC people strip flashfires from QC that OMC had dropped off not 10 minutes before really put a dash in my hopes of things ever getting better. When "pro-quantar" people strip QC because they think of themselves as more important than the rest of the faction, they're "pro-jerk" and not "pro-quantar" in my opinion.

For the record, I'm also of the opinion that fights at QC->Ekoos PWN fights RV->Gurge.

I feel more and more inclined to start a new Solrain squad, as my main character misses a decent RP anyway since EU closed down...

*starts thinking*

@Al -- I have no idea regarding "plenty of equipment" on EU. All I know is that I tried playing there as an unsquadded low-level pilot and it was very discouraging.

I will agree that I always felt that US pvp where there was no disincentive (except for stat-whores) for fly-die-relaunch tactics -- left something to be desired. I always felt that pvp was diminished when death had no meaning. But I have to say that the big melees we had out in the middle of nowehere (with no "friendly" POSes to dock at) were a lot more fun that the current situation.

I personally was a big fan of the launch and fight no matter what thing. To me, logging off because there are 5 people vs me at QC is much less fun than launching and trying to kill one and dock.
