I'm registered on all three, and a couple of others. They all have positives. My only real complaint with JGW is the use of excessive and conversational profanity. I'm neither a kid nor a prude. The words used are not foreign to my vocabulary, but are seldom used in public or mixed company. Simply a matter of preference on my part. Plus I just like the ambience here.

Hopefully, as Jumpgate grows again (fingers crossed) there will be plenty of people to go around. The core group of PvPers has gravitated towards Jumpgate Classic, but with Jump's excellent tools, I suspect this would be the place here haulers and miners would gravitate.

I'm not sure why this thread has become us vs. them. I fully supported JGW and did so long before it became the destination for many in the Jumpgate community. This site is not here opposing that site. Rather, it is here in support of Jumpgate.
I have often stated, that I believe, that strong games need many fan site destinations. This allows opportunity for everyone to find a comfortable place to hang out and talk about the game they play. It also offers many hits for the search engines to further draw new players and interest toward the game. Bigger is better when it comes to online presence. I have no desire for this to be a "care bear" site vs. some other "PVP" site. That is not what it is about. There are many "PVP" players that frequent this site, and economic players. The same can be said for other sites. Everyone has a different attitude about the social environment they wish to be a part of. Everyone should have the option of choice. Whether the choice is here, there or everywhere. The evidence, presented by many years of this game’s existence, presents us with a dilemma. The facts have shown us that most people, who have played Jumpgate, have never shown an interest in community sites. Most never have posted on JOSSH, PJG, JGW, or here at JSR. A higher percentage have frequented their squad sites. Yet as I learned with -=MACK=- Station, many don't even frequent their own squad sites. I'm sure there are as many answers as to the cause as there are players. I'm sure a lot of it relates to being comfortable with the whole online experience. Let’s face the facts here. When you visualize the time line of gaming, it’s mostly consisting of single player games. The sociality of the MMOG environment is relatively new in the gaming universe. No matter how much you and your friends enjoy it, most people are still uncomfortable with it. Therefore, most people are not enjoying the richer gaming experience available from the MMOG environment. For that matter, most people have yet to even venture onto the internet. Though more do each day. If Jumpgate is to survive, it needs to have plenty of welcome mats laid out as potential players find its door. Wether they are experienced with MMOG’s, or someone taking their first steps into the online world. The more fan sites, with varied social environments, the more likely they will be to find a comfortable place to hang out and be a part of the Jumpgate community. For more than two years the community was a locked door as it huddled there on JOSSH. Though the events of a few months ago were traumatic and undesirable, the outcome can be something that is good for the survival of this game. Now there is a great potential for the game and it’s community. To thrive and grow through expansion into the many corners of this vast universe we call the internet. To each their own, and to everyone, something. No matter how many fan sites there are, events that need to be offered to everyone should be centered on JOSSH. So that everyone will see it, and to make it easier on the event coordinator. |

Well, I visit/troll all 3 of them, but JGW forums are kinda in dire need of moderation, unless those coming there like how it always looks. There is no sandbox need over there, cause looks like u can curse and use profanity in every area I look, and this would be the one reason why I would dislike JGW forums... the widespread use of profanities. Granted, not everyone does it... but the few that do it... are the ones that post a lot, so u get a lot.
This forums are kinda cleaner so far, and with the asked moderation I guess it will be kept clean, which is the best for newcomers to see IMO. ELP |

I can assure you these forums will always be moderated when it comes to language, insults, intimidation, and disrespect. It will never be moderated when it comes to personal opinions and such. Anything that can be said, can be said respectfully of others.
The only problem I have is that something might happen when I am at worrk and it will stew till I return. I need dutiful moderators for every time period. I have a few for JSR as a whole, but none for the Jumpgate forums specifically. Which puts all the burdon on me. |
