Do you mine?
Are you Quantar? Are you ready for the galaxy to depend on you? DSM Inc. is an affiliation of indepent owner/operator miners who work together to provide the galaxy with the finest mined commodities. Each member is in complete control of how he operates his station, but we work together to fill them with commodities and map the nearby sectors. Membership in DSM Inc. allows you access to our private sector maps, as well as a tight group of pilots you can rely on. JOSSH Squad Page Private Squad Forums*note: As of 104.7.21 the site admin will be gone for 2 weeks, if you don't register by then, you will have to wait for his return to be granted access to the private forums |

I mine from time to time and want to do more as I have more time to do so.
I'm Octavian and proudly so, but I don't think that should limit me from working with pilots of other factions (in general of course!). I seldom PvP and usually only fly HG to re-tune beacons, so it's not like I'm exactly a threat to other pilots. I want to make a difference in-game and I see mining as one of the more productive ways to do so. I also like the idea of completely mapping sectors and would love to have access to other's mapping contributions. JGROT/myrotacol is good, but they usually only include the rad/semi/precious/ice 'roids. Going for a Miner's Heart for a Skill Star is much easier done with Common than anything else, especially when you need 145u of ore sold! Trying to map just Octavian sectors would be a job requiring months, if not years at my present pace. I also have no problem with sharing my efforts with other pilots. So tell me Grim, is there a place where a loyal Octavian could contribute without leaving his/her current squad? |

Since I've personally enjoyed all my interactions with you WB, I have no problem bringing your offer before the rest of the company. If they agree, I'll have the admin grant you access to our private company forums, this will ofcourse be on the sole condition that you do not share our private sector maps with anyone. Especially at this early phase of the company, our private sector maps are our most valuable resource.
Unfortunately, all of this will have to wait until our squad forum admin gets back from his celebration, and the OAS forums we piggyback our squad forums on are restored to functionality. |

Sounds good enough to me GG! By the way, you do want common roids on your sector maps, right? And unless you already have Oct sectors mapped, I'll start to work on those and will turn the info over to DSM inc for inclusion. Most recently I have been working on mapping Orrus Major.

Generally, we don't map common roids. The main reason for this is that PM roids contain 50% common ore, Semifluxxors contain 31% common ore, and Radioactive roids contain 35% common ore. With the exception of ice, no matter what you mine you'll be getting plenty of common ore. Also, not mapping the common roids greatly reduces the amount of time it will take to "completely" map a sector.
The standard format for the txt files containing the maps looks something like this: (Sector Name) [Asteroid Field Name] -12.3 12.9 17.9 Rad 12 units -14.2 14.3 19.5 Rad 20 units -14.4 14.3 19.7 Rad 12 units -14.2 14.1 19.7 Semi 4 units You'll notice that I have [Asteroid Field Name]. I've decided to group the roids the way they are grouped in the sector. Aman Gate for example has [IG-Dark Belt] - a group of roids along the path between the inner gyre and dark jumpgates, [Squinty's Field], a large asteroid field that was close to one of Squinty's POS, and [ClusterField] which is a play on the term Cluster**** because it contains mainly pebbles. I use typical units you can extract (4, 11/12, 24 units) rather than small, med, and large, because what looks small to you, may be big to someone else, but how much ore you can get out is pretty much the same for everyone. |
