Back from the Grave

So in my boredom of a world without my PC I decided to clean my office closet. I figured it might be nice to walk in there again and not just look at the piles of stuff. So I'm sorting through all the junk and what do I find? A brand new 350w Power supply. So I think to myself, hmm, maybe that's all I need to change. So I rip out the old one an sure enough it has several swollen capacitors and a big dark stain on a circuit board. Not to mention dust bunnies from hell. I set up the new one and here I am, back from the dead. The MB cable is way to short so the PS is just dangling but it should get me through two months till I build a new system. *crosses fingers*

The bad news is I hurt my back really bad at work and may be going on comp for a long time. I will know better after the MRI. So add that to my other health issue and I'm in for a ride.

At least I am back online so I can pollute your lives with nonsense.

It seems to be running much better now than before it shut down. The new PS has more wattage than the old. I think I got it from someone some time ago to swap out and I just forgot.

It's still not going to run any current games but it'll do for now. Sure is quiet around here.

I thought this place was a bit busier than 'normal' over the past couple weeks and the (Memorial Day) weekend has just been slow.

Jump welcome to the world of seeking Social Security Disability. It's a long, dusty, rough road that I still can't see the end of, but I'm still headed in that direction. Being out of work sucks so much on so many levels!

i hear you on that. I've been looking for something full time that's gonna actually stick for a year now, and I don't even have a disability to blame it on (not that i'm saying you blame anything or any of that).

Well, with the current payout for Workman's Comp and the supplement from the union I would only be getting a $100 or so less than what I take home now with a 40 hour check. Take out gas to work and lunches and it's probably the same.

I get to have an MRI on Tuesday. Oh the joy of laying in a tube of noise for 40 minutes. I can hardly wait. Maybe I will eat lot's of beans the night before.

Ooooohhh! MRI's are WONDERFUL! Unless you are obese and more than slightly claustrophobic (me). A lot depends on the technicians too. The one I've used the most, have a tie-in to a local radio station I like, so I at least have music to listen to on a decent set of headphones while someone beats on the steel drum I'm stuffed into! It's not a pleasant experience anyway you slice it, but it's WAY ahead of a colonoscopy! (I've had one of those as well... at least it's quieter than an MRI!).

Well, I got there and found out I was having two done. What a Joy that news was. one half hour in feet first for my spine and another half hour in head first for my neck. It was definitely an odd experience. I can see how some might have serious issues with it. It was cramped and my shoulders just squeezed in.

My best description of the event is being stuck in a water slide that just so happens to run right through the middle of a video arcade from the late eighties early nineties where everyone outside the tube is playing Pacman and Space Invaders. Oh the sounds brought me back to that great era in gaming.

At least that's what I kept telling myself as my mind kept screaming. GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!
