I know what u mean Spirit. Im not looking for a high def projector. I think I would go with one that gives 800x600 or 1024x768, that would be nice enough for me. I can live with the pixels, I just love the big view. However, if a better res available, widescreen and not so pricey... I'd go with that too.

Another thing to mention, on the projector's part, is how much time the lamp lasts. I've heard some cheap projectors use pricey lamps, whereas some better quality projectors (and as such more expensive) use lower cost lamps. Since you dont know when its going to fail, I would think that one that has lamps available for a reasonable cost... is better option, in the long term.

I only have the one HDTV in the house right now, a 32" CRT Philips model. We have DirecTV with the HD package too. I am not going to get a bigger TV until more channels go digital and start sending a decent picture. A lot of cable channels including SciFi are starting their simulcast in HD at the start of the year, so maybe after that, I will look into a larger set. But right now, my analog channels look like ass. My neighbors have a 52" and their picture on their analog channels is down right ugly.

Eventually though, I am thinking I want a projector unit.
They (DirecTv) already simulcast in HD on 50+ channels. You need to get some stupid little converter for your hd reciever to get them is all, assuming you have a 5 LNB Dish. Go to Good TV. Better TV. DIRECTV. for details.

Re: Digital TV or still analog CRT?

Just so you know. Crappy Dish Network is offering $35 a month off for 18 months for peeps to leave DTV and people are calling DTV and asking to talk to the retention dept. Telling them they are going to switch and getting great stay offers from DTV. Some people are getting $150 credit, money off per month for 6 months and free channels or TIVO. FYI

Re: Digital TV or still analog CRT?

No real TV here, and even I have a receiver card for digital satellite in the PC and there is a dish on the roof since 2 years I never bothered to find out why I have no signal in my appartment.
On the PC I use a 21" CRT, though I use one of these cheap 'stripped LCD on overhead' wannabe projectors for movies (DVD). So I guess mixed is the best vote.
