Re: Do we go there?
I voted no. Only for the simple fact that I have been part of several forums. Moderated on several and still visit close to a 12 on a regular basis.
Sandbox never stays in the sandbox. It always spills out. I watched it almost kill a site that used to be very popular. Diver may or may not have seen that go down. Its one thing when people post, they are usually anonymous but still fall into some kind of rule or order. The sandbox is hands off, free for all. Feelings get hurt and people cant control themselves and it spills out. Just one man's opinion. |

Re: Do we go there?
I see your point and agree with it in some respects. But I also don't think a sandbox is just about Bob calling Sam a frakhead. I think that's a limited view. It can also be about posting things to each other that Jump doesn't want the public, namely kids and search engines, seeing when they happen by this place.
If someone is going to go all wacko on us they don't need a sandbox to self destruct in. And I am sure we won't be letting in any outsiders that we don't know. And I also have no qualms about taking care of the problem if it arises and just removing the thing if it doesn't work out. Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say. Anyone that has been around long enough knows how I feel about this sort of thing. Nevertheless, it has been repeatedly asked for so we are considering it. For all I know every private squad forum I have given out has been used as a sandbox. Maybe that's why those squads all seem inactive. ![]() |

Re: Do we go there?
Well, I support it. The restrictions are easy for everybody, and those who do not want or want to read it... wont be able to because you wont get access to. So, basically, this would be a private forums (like jump says, like a squad) which those who want to be there are, as Chem easily put it: "inmature enough to use it, but mature enough to take it".
You dont want to be see it, np, you wont see it. ELP |

Re: Do we go there?
If I were a moderator, I'd have a 'no insulting others without a quote from the sandbox forum' rule - just to stop people attacking people who can't read the attack.
I'll vote yes, but I'll add my own personal 'don't join if you don't have time to read this crap' rule. |

Re: Do we go there?
In the way its been presented I'm a yes. We just need to stop thinking of it as a name-calling forum and more of a "pie" forum. Pie will always get my vote!
