I thought this was particularly interesting. That's why I never use these group sites. It's all about money and nothing more.

The new program lets companies tap ongoing conversations by alerting users about friends' activities through the feeds. About 40 Web sites have decided to embed a free tool from Facebook, known as a Beacon, to enable the marketing feeds.
The idea is that if users see a friend buy or do something, they'd take that action as an endorsement for a movie, a band or a soft drink.
But it also raises privacy concerns.

I have a private myspace profile, and facebook as well.

If your not in the same group as someone, or a friend, you can't see their page. So just be careful what apps you add to your page, and which groups you are a part of.

Well, I looked into it because I was told I could not be a part of the Jumpgate Evolution community if I did not have facebook. This is just not the kind of site I want to be a part of, so I won't. It's all MFA in my eyes. Tracking your moves and purchases, and reporting what you do is just not my cup of tea. So I guess I will just be out of the loop. Nevertheless, a lot of people like that sort of thing so have fun with it. Be careful though.

Im totally disgusted by this move to facebook. Im not going to join, so I guess that means I wont be part of the Jumpgate Evolution Community... which, btw, makes you wonder, who the hell are we then?

Well, a lot of people like that kind of stuff so it is a good place to market your product. But that's the very reason I don't like that stuff. I don't want to be marketed to. To each their own I guess. But beware of the spybots if you do.

I hate spammers! I hate tracking software! The grief that causes me on a day to day basis makes me sick! If you could see the amount of SPAM my email servers receive cause of crap like this it would make your head spin!

Google is starting to piss me off... every damn piece of software I want to install now, wants to know if I want Google Toolbar installed, or google this or google that! I hate it when a software company tries and cram their code down everyones throat!
