The future of JSR.
I need to get things off my chest. Some things have been bothering me for some time and I grow weary of carrying them around.
As some of you know, this has not been a good year for Jump and family. We got hit hard with some financial disasters. We're alive and well and all is good. However, this has a ripple effect. My hosting expires in a few months. As I see it now, there is no way I will be able to afford to renew it. The money just isn't there. My kids need performance level instruments for band and orchestra this year and that is going to cost some big cash. What's more important. I have put up adds, but noone visits our sponsors so no revenue comes from that. We have amazon links, but that hasn't done much. I think we'll get like $23.00 for the quarter. I just don't see it happening without some sort of windfall coming my way. And this year, I am not going to do the "beg for money" thing. It never works and I hate doing it. It doesn't look good at this time. Who knows, things could change. But I just wanted to be honest with you guys about the future of this site. I hope it gets better, that's for sure. I just spent my Christmas money renewing our domains for 3 years. I transferred them to Godaddy.com to save some bucks. Hopefully I won't regret that. Anyway, off my chest and don't be surprised if come April JSR disappears. If it does, I apologize in advance. It's been a great run. |

The burden has grown less with our hosts new plans, just released. I can get a new server with a bit less memory and cpu, but with three times the bandwidth and twice the disk space for several hundred less a year. I don't think we use anywhere near the memory and CPU we have now, so it shouldn't make much difference. But extra disk space and bandwidth will open up new opportunities and remove that stress. Looks like costs will be under $600 a year with this option.
It's still going to be a struggle for me but less of one now. So I have hope for the future of this home of the unfriendlies. If you want to help meet this goal you can paypal through the subscription features of your user control panel or visit our sponsors. Though the later won't realize any funds in time for this year. |

It looks like we will get about $110 from goo gle just before the bill is due. We had a surge in sponsor visits around Dec/Jan which boosted it up. I hope they mail it out on time.
![]() Sponsor visits have tapered off drastically since then though, or it would be more. It's not too late to help keep us on the web through visiting our sponsors, purchasing through our Amazon links, or donations. Jump |
