Giant Robot?

Injustice

We spent most of the morning here at work talking about kid's TV shows, so on a whim, I went around for the rest of the afternoon asking people to identify this original childrens program as soon as they were sure of the answer:

Five kids, one of them female, who hold medallions that control giant robots that combine to form an even bigger robot which uses a sword to chop in half giant monsters from outer space.

I got to 13 wrong answers before somebody finally got it right. Let's see if the online community can do better.

Yeah, the first 12 people I talked to were like "That's Power Rangers, isn't it?".

What really gets me is there's a rumor floating around about a live action Voltron movie in production (it's on IMDb). So imagine sitting through the previews for the next Harry Potter movie with your eight-year-old and seeing a sneak-peek of Voltron: The Movie, only to have him say "They copied that from Power Rangers!".

Sadly, I know the popular culture loss of Voltron all too well. I grew up with Power Rangers and didn't find out about Voltron until I'd whored enough online forums and hung out at enough comic book stores.
