![]() I've been going to Blackhawk games since I was a kid. Hockey took over as my FAVORITE sport when the baseball players went on strike. The biggest draw to the sport for me was the pure love those guys had for the game back then. Hockey players weren't all over billboards. They weren't on commercials for Nike. They didn't bitch about how much money they made. They just went out and played their guts out every day whether they were healthy or not. These bastards today seem to be under the impression that they should now make the kind of money that baseball players make when the simple fact is that Hockey has a SMALL FRACTION of the market that baseball has. Then you get Jeremy Roenick (who of course was my favorite player at one time) saying any fan who doesn't think the players deserve more money can kiss his ass. I'm not the type of fan JR plays for, in his own words. I already have enough sports to watch where they care more about their paycheck than playing the game. I certainly don't need another. ![]() |

Actually, I reacted the same way when I heard the snippet of his comments. I would encourage you to go back and listen to the entire interview. I think it is as he said later, that he was taken out of context.
You will feel however you wish, but hockey was more entertaining last year than baseball would be if they added cheerleaders and strippers. Baseball is about as entertatining as getting a battery acid enema from Himmler. ![]() |
