Jumpgate Evolution Vs. Potential GF

Hello people, want your opinions on something, The results of this poll wont be binding, but will carry some weight.

A significant ex has recently come back into my life and I've been doing all the normal stuff to get her back. Then Jumpgate Evolution gets announced!

Now, Jumpgate Evolution and this woman are very similar in one large respect, in terms of attention they are both high maintenance!

Given that I'm certain Jumpgate Classic paid a part in my divorce, what should I do. Two options are easy, dump either the ex or Jumpgate Evolution. Errrr, not certain either of these are possible.

I could of course lower the expectations of the ex and keep her tagging along until the game looses its interest (from the last one about 4 years). Dont think thats likely either.

Or just play the game less than I used to play Jumpgate Classic. Another difficult one.

So go on, whats the best option? Or suggest another.

Loved my girl for 13 years, loved the game for 8+ years.
She was here before, but I tell ya what. Jumpgate will hopefully be here for as long.
They both make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside for totally different reasons.

I voted to dump the woman, but it's really like this:
If she loves you for who you are, that will include your enjoyment of gaming. If she can't accept that part of who you are, find someone who can.

Girls > games. It's a sad fact really, since games often provide more enjoyment then girls. The fact of the matter is that as fun as Jumpgate is, it will never change over the course of a lifetime as much as a girl will. Think of it this way... the girl will get new content patches and have a decent development team behind her while Jumpgate Evolution can last at most, for 10 years.

What's better long-term?

Besides, StarCraft 2 *cough* I mean Jumpgate Evolution won't be around for another 1 or 2 years and these forums are already slowing down... put Jumpgate on hold for awhile. The time until Jumpgate Evolution comes out will seem shorter too.

In Jumpgate Evolution will be NPCs to interact with if there aren´t enough players around.
But if your gf won´t have anybody around to play with, don´t expect her to interact with NPCs ...

I would agree with Grim assessment. She needs to accept that part of you - however, you also need to compromise, so just play a little less or a little less often. With my wife, when I am subbing, I set aside a day (usually Sunday for me). At any other time she knows I can be pulled away but Sunday is my day to play. It works out OK for both of us.

My old friend Roheryn always told me he was a saint to his girlfriend, always doing any little thing she wanted, smothering her with presents, etc. This way, when he went to play Jumpgate or WoW she wouldn't even complain.

Always compromise.

If you can compromise by spending more time with her and less time on Jumpgate, and she still cant stand that you play Jumpgate. Then you need to find another woman.

Its not about choosing a woman over a game or the other way around. Its about having the freedom to do both that is important. And I'm sure she has a hobby she loves.. What if you said to her that if shes going to be with you then she would have to give up that hobby and all other things you don't like.

I haven't voted in your poll as it has missed out a rather obvious option..LIE.

Tell her on some occasion when you are far from your computer, so she doesn't think your trying to get online, that that game you used to play, Jumpgate, have offered you a nominal sum (insert ammount) to be a game tester for them, and all you have to do is play a certain number of hours (insert ammount) a week, what a laugh eh!

Later drop in a comment that you and several other friends have decided to give it a try.

Then when you really want to play, you just act as if have to do it, hey its your job.

I think all my wives would agree that the careful use of lies extended our marriages by months.
