Just how bad can ND F*CK this up?

I did reregister, but this is basically a boot in the nuts for the existing community.
I'm a pretty easy going take it as it is sort of person but as time goes on the more and more I am losing interest in Jumpgate Evolution. To me the people running things basically don't give a shit about people that have been with them for years. It's their game though, not ours.

I did register, actually only to see if you are not kidding about how complicated things are. I am quite surprised that you are actually correct. Plus you haven't seen the french CM pages (yes I wanted to see if there was actually a pro side of this, as in accessibility for other languages) The translation is either not existent (as in checkboxes without telling you what you would check), bad, or just simply wrong. If they do the same with the client this will actually be worse for non english players that will logically get a localised version if they first log in.

Having to upload a DxDiag is a nice option, not. How do I get the file of my gaming rig if I am on my lap at work wasting time on stupid internet games? You actually have to get a real DxDiag file, (a file called dxdiag.xml that contains "#eat my pants" doesn't work, seriously) might be so you can't cheat for your specs. But actually it asks you for your specs after having scanned them, so where is logic?

At least I can flame in the new forums now.

The "new" CM Jumpgate forums incorporate all the the best in British nannisms.
-all custom avatars require Awen's "approval"
-nanny filters for bad words including the word "pissed". no way to turn it off for big boys who can handle a bad word or two.

NetDevil has caved too much to codemasters. I bet when the game is released ND won't have anything to do with it with the expection of patches. Kind of like Jumpgate Classic and the Mightygames agreeement. Remember ND only took back the US distrubution after the US guys fucked it up. ND never wanted to run games, they just want to make them. So the players are going to be stuck with rules of whoever ND gets to run the game.

I hope that the CM forums langusih and private forums like JSR thrive.

FWIW, the game developer rarely has anything to do with a game (other than patches and continued development) once it's released -- it is all publisher. But I would bet that, because of past experiences with both Jumpgate and AA, NetDevil has some out clauses where it can recapture control of the product.

MMO's are run better when the Developer and Publisher are the same, think Blizzard with WoW. And I am betting that because of ND's experiences with Jumpgate and AA they don't want to go through that hell again. So are trying to find a way for the publisher to take most of the risk. When you do that the developer is a slave to the publisher, because that is who thier customer is. The players are the publisher customers, so in the end ND has to pay attention to CM not the player base. At least they are going with only one publisher this time instead of 2, like Jumpgate Classic which caused patching discrepancies, and issues with GM rule enforcement.

Even for the 'Open' Betas? Obviously we're not at that stage yet anyways. I can understand needing it for closed beta testing when the conditions need to be a bit more closely regulated.

Larommi must think they're screwing up even worse than Themis. That could be, but I was not around during the really bad Themis moments that everyone goes on about, so I don't have the basis for as low an opinion of them that some do. (It's hard to be vehement on a secondhand basis)
