LOTR:ROTK Extended Version
I got the Extended version for Christmas. I must say, it really makes it a more complete and telling story. The scenes put back in should never have been removed. Yes, it's over 4 hours, but who cares. Why can't they just go back to the old days of movie theaters and have an intermission.

It's interesting that you worded it the way you did. A friend of mine and I were talking, and we both had the impression that many of the scenes were "put back in" rather than "added". The movie is much more complete with the additional scenes, enough so that even the die-hard Tolkien fan would be appreciative.

Obviously they must deviate from the literary works to make a successful screen play. Tolkein said it could never be done. But done it is and it is an epic of our time. I can watch them over and over. Brilliant work to dazzle the eye and enthuse the soul.
I sure hope that Peter Jackson makes The Silmarillion and The Hobbit. |
