I have a universe (from my other project, now abandoned) and the ability to code it, but modelling/texturing is not my forte. That plus working 35 hours at my job plus searching for another "real" job plus the obligatory playing of video games and my time is limited. It took me like 3 months to make my ExplodeGL game to look like it's working.

From the stories I am hearing. Everyone, that has ever played Jumpgate, is working on a newer, better, shinier game. So pretty soon(tm) we should have hundreds of new choices.

Trying to build something better than another is a bad idea. It tends to be a habit of those without much development experience. What results is that they just make a carbon copy of their original game and add on what they personally want to see. Usually it ends up in a whole lot of work and not much public interest.
