Poll on the future of JSR
To all our valued members, posters, lurkers, trolls, disinterested, or those that hate us. What should we do with this site?
Basically, should I just shut it down? It gets little use anymore and with Jumpgate fizzling it get's less use every month that roles on by. I currently am in desperate need of another vBulletin license and don't have the $160 needed to purchase one. Meanwhile, this one goes basically unused and cobwebs and dust are building up. Those that talked me into it or offered to help out with it basically abandoned me the minute I set it up and it's tuff to get anything going here without help. I'm a coder not a publisher. I have kept it up all this time in the interest of Jumpgate, but that community seems disinterested. So, what do you guys think I should do? |

That is a toughy Jump. I really like JSR, as it is a place to keep up with alot of the old Jumpgate folks. That is not necessarily the best reason to keep it up, though. Were I able to help out financially, I would, but things are not looking good for the home team.
I had hoped by this time to have something to help drive up your numbers out here, but things have become a little.....um...complicated right now. I will share something with you that was shared with me when I was with JPR. If you like what you are doing, and enjoy the outcome, even if no one hears it, then it is worth it. If not...then you have your answer. |

I don't know what you hope to get from this poll. If x number of people post asking to keep the site up, will you? I'd like you to for what it's worth.
I think the real question is whether the hassles and costs are worth it to you. Though, if I had the money I'd buy you a new liscense for what you've already done for us. Does providing a place for us to keep in touch give you enough satisfaction to make it worth it? Did Jumpgate make a big enough impact on your life to make it worth it? |

That's not the issue. The sites not a pain for me, other than the lonliness of looking at it.
![]() I am merely asking if anyone cares. Because I am in dire need of a new license and if noone cares then.... So, if most people vote "shut it down" or don't vote for that matter, then I will probably just use it for the other site. If it is overwhelming that they want it to stay, even though they don't freekin use it, then it will stay and I will be stuck trying to figure out what to do about the other. I might add, the other will most likely raise enough revenue to pay for this one if I can figure out how to fund it. |

Now...you said it was a forum liscense....could you copy the arcade high scores to a static page and leave that in this sites place when you rip it down? |

My vote was 'keep it open', though with a qualification. You mentioned that the other site would be able to pay for both? If so, then perhaps JSR takes a vacation for a month or 2 while you get that site running and bringing in $ (not sure of what timetable that would be). and once it can support both bring jsr back, unless you think that shutting jsr down for a couple months would kill it for good so far as what community we have here.
