Put him in virtual jail!
This is hilarious.
"A Dutch teenager has been arrested for allegedly stealing virtual furniture from "rooms" in Habbo Hotel, a 3D social networking website." "We have had much of this scamming going on in many countries but this is the first case where the police have taken legal action." >>> 'Virtual theft' leads to arrest |

Re: Put him in virtual jail!
Does the furniture cost actual money, or something?
This sounds like Second Life. That place was a remarkable tribute to people who have too much money. |

Re: Put him in virtual jail!
So, just to be clear on this.. there is a person or group of people who designed a game. It is a point-and-click game, only without any missions, goals, objectives, boards, levels, or equipment.
But you can buy equipment if you want. Except, because there are no monsters to kill (like would be in most games) you have to send in real money, which is then converted to fake money. I'm going to say that again, in it's own line, because I just have to look at it some more. You send real money to the owners of the game, and they turn it into fake money, for your use in game. Holy crap. And here I am, plying a trade skill. So what happens when somebody gets bored and pulls the plug? Everybody keeps their game money, and the owners keep the real stuff? My college adviser lied to me. You know what I think this 17 yr old did to 'con' these folks out of their passwords? "Hey, dude, give me your password and you'll be cool". Then, being the mental giants they are, they gave the password.. because, hey, it seemed like such a good idea. |
