Quoting messages.

I've noticed that some new members are just using straight quote tags to quote text from posts. While this may work for the poster, it leaves the reader scrambling to figure out who the poster is quoting. especially with multiple quotes. vBulletin has many nice features that can help you accomplish your goal as a poster and at the same time, help the reader understand your message. Also, vBulletin will place a link to the original post within the quote.

First of all, if you want to quote a single message then just use the quote button located at the bottom of that post. This will take you to the new post page and you can enter your text regarding the quoted message.

If you want to quote multiple messages then simply use the multi-quote button at the bottom right of each post you wish to quote. The button will change it's appearance to mark it as a quoted message. Once you have marked all the messages you wish to quote, then simply hit the reply button and you will be taken to the reply page and all the quotes will be there.

If you wish to only quote a single line, then simply remove the text you do not wish to quote. This is a little work but it is easer on the many readers and will help them understand your message. And we all want to be understood do we not.

Thanks for your time.
