Definently no strawberries. I had a good view of the preparation area. The way she was making the cakes was strange, there was an array of maybe 6 8" skillets and she started at one and moved it back and forth seemingly randomly until it was done cooking. My best guess is that she was trying to keep it in hot oil to cook it faster, but it seemed like she was moving it too quickly (and cooling it down during the transfer in the air) to take advantage of that.

I wouldn't expect it because strawberries are a non-standard topping for funnel cakes. And, frankly, you should be for not conforming to the Conventional Funnel Cake Wisdom.
(okay, so I'll be trying that setup out tomorrow. It sounds pretty good, just the sort of thing to drive extra people to my booth.) |

Actually, as far as locally here in Cali, strawberries are served on funnel cakes all the time. Not fresh, but oh so good. I couldn't find any in Columbia on wednesday. So I went to the candy store and bought a pound of black licorice.

Mmm fudge. I should make another batch soon. Friends back where I used to work were sad when I came in to visit without any this past week. |
