You're comparing a 32 GB cache with a 16. You have to make your own choices. But instead of reading reviews at places like Anand where they may are may not be supplied the same drive you get or they may or may not have biases. I would suggest you read reviews at shopping sites that allow negative reviews. And look at the return rates. Read the forum comments on those review sites. Review stats are mostly meaningless since for every review you can find the opposite review.

Re: Well shit.

anandtech is a great source of non-biased reviews....

I could give a damn less about what typical idiots have to say for the most part, but I know what you mean, I often look at reviews on newegg when shopping for parts...

I still can't decide if its worth 150 extra to get another 140GBs....
New 500 = 90
2 new 640 = 220ish...

Re: Well shit.

So this is what I decided to do. I got 2 new 500gb SATA drives, new RAID1 inside my case. Called up WD, and they said I had a 3 year warrenty on my drive even though it says 1 year all over the website, so they shipped me out a whole new MyBook, and I'm shipping this crap one back to them.

So now I have:
(2x) 300GB Internal SATA RAID0 = 600GB system drive, 200GB windows, 400 Temp Storage (like torrents and whatnot)
(2x) 500GB Internal SATA RAID1 = 500GB Protected Space, Full of TV Shows.
(2x) 500GB External Firewire 800 RAID1 = 500GB Protected for More TV Shows and all my movies, backups, and installers.

1.6 TB of storage....Jeez I'm nutts.....

On a side note, I'll be getting free news server access to the largest provider soon, so I have a feeling that 2nd 500GB raid is about to get real full....

Re: Well shit.

Hope your RAID0 array doesn't have anything important on it. I work in storage engineering for a large multinational an we would never ever consider RAID0 for anything.

At least its speedy, right? :P

Re: Well shit.

The 600GB RAID0 is windows and swap space for torrents and whatnot. Its set up this way for game load time. I'm always the first one in the server after a map change in Counterstrike Source
