God in the Old Testament thought Ten Commandments was a good minimum for social harmony. Hamarabbi (sp) had how many? So yeah, I believe any society must have laws or customs to maintain harmony. Not so many as what most States, Cities and, oh yes, the Federal Government, think necessary, but there must be some agreed upon rules for social interactions.

As far as developers of MMO's are concerned, the rules are simple. You could write out a recipe for deep-fried bananas and call it the ROC for Jumpgate Evolution, as long as there's still that catch-all clause at the bottom that says ND can cancel your subscription of they feel you're breaking the rules.

Re: What defines a society?

A society is any group of people that interact and have something in common. the rules sort of form themselves as the society grows.

actually there were about 300. still far short of the thousands we have here in the states, but He might have added a few if they had cars and airplanes.
