Windows Vista Service Pack 1 RC Public Availability Program

Well here it is. I have been reading a lot of feedback on it since it went to testers last week. Lot's of goodness with this. I doubt the final will be much different though I read it will have a few additional fixes. I'm loading it up after I type this. If you don't seem me around for awhile then pray for me.

I was going to ask the same thing. I have been toying with going with Vista, but have really been waiting for SP1, as there are still some compatability issues with Vista and hardware. Also, I am not in a hurry to lose my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card.

I have had no compatibility issues. SB has had issue with every operating system. It's because they suck. They have always had crap drivers.

As far as how it's going. It's fine.

It seems to have fixed a whole heck of a lot of issues. Network transfers being a big one. I moved a big file and it's like lightning now.

Too early to tell on other things for me but every where else I roam most are praising it. It is a RC though so if you don't like dealing with that then wait.

I should reboot then, im on the computer that has vista on the other drive. As opposed to the one I was on last night playing in ubuntu.

If you do try the RC get the full install. The Windows Update is convoluted and a pain. I guess they are experimenting with that part. For those that don't know, you will need to uninstall a RC before installing the released version of SP1.

I haven't played any games yet.

it had me download some kind of patch to tell the registry to tell windows update to download service pack 1. I don't really have time to play around with though. I gotta clean out the van, pick up the kids and go to Dallas, company christmas party tonight.

That's why it's best to download the whole thing. It will have you pound WU several times after reboots to finish it.
