That kinda stinks. I wonder of Tachyon servers are still online? May have to reinstall that!

Tach was a great game indeed, the problem with it was Novalogic simply seemed to throw their hands up at the issue of cheating, which was rampant at several periods; Tachyon went unsupported within a year and not too long after some talented players decided to take up the task, themselves, of trying to fix things and add content.

They did, really, but the problem was that each addition of ships was balanced within what that player felt reasonable. Some ships were insanely weak if you actually hit them, so to try and balance that they were made likewise insanely fast, and given "ultimate weapons of DOOM" to help them stand against the regular vessels. Thus the whining ensued. Something I will admit to having been a part of; I still hug my bomber ships! And those zippy little buggers were cutting me to ribbons when I couldn't drag my nose around to face them.

Things went on like that for a good long while, till those who tried to help the game became discouraged for all the heat they took on the ship balance issue. The last time I logged in I found all of maybe five people online, at peak hours. Sad, sad, sad.
