Yeah, I already heard that babble about SIGs being too high and stuff, disturbing the "reading flow". As if endless lines of "Doh!" and "Hi!" would give a shakespear-like literature experience.

Rest assured, that I am completely comfy with my SIG and my AVATAR.
The problem is that too many people are unimaginative and a good SIG-pic is always a win for any board. Unfortunately too many peeps take refuge in some textlines and boasting, with as much charm and format as a letterbox.

Come on guys, let us bring some colour into that posting tristesse!
And I will switch my SIG off, after posting it once a thread.

Well, it's obvious you have a tremendous artistic talent. So I'm sure you will come up with something fantastic in lets say, 150 by 500. The whole thing about the reading flow is one aspect. Another is page size. A vibrant thread doesn't need page sizes in excess of 100k. Makes them load slower you know.

I'm probably going to add a hack to limit sigs to the first post anyway. I haven't really wanted to do any hacks until I'm sure the new 3.xx line of Vbulletin stabilizes. They just had two updates in a short time. Updating wipes all the hacks.

I'm all for artisitic expression but there has to be limits when others are subject to that expression. I don't want anyone feeling they need to set it so they don't view anyones signatures just to avoid massive pics. Though there are many who like the big pics, I believe the majority of those that frequent forums do not. You will notice that the big sites don't allow it. We have to go with what pleases the average user. If this was a clan specific site where most liked the big sigs then I wouldn't have any problem with it. But as a more general site that wants to attract a variety of members I must say no.

So let's see what your skill can do in a more standard sig graphic. RK tells me you are quite talented and have a great body of work. Perhaps you would like to work on a style/theme for these Tachyon forums to distinguish them from the rest of the site. Now that would be a big signature indeed.
