By Rafel Solamis Octavius Core (TRI-FP) - Earlier today, the Octavian Ministry of War released a statement regarding the recent damage caused by sentient conflux attacks. "The Ministry of War is now convinced that the recent attacks are part of a new offensive campaign by the conflux," stated Dr. Calatorius. "Clearly, they cannot match Octavian, or even other TRI pilots in direct combat, so our analysis indicates that they have deployed new weaponry for the sole purpose of destroying key production facilities. The destruction of the RB-3, Biomass and Antiflux facilities are key examples of their strategy. The Antiflux facility was clearly destroyed to make it harder for miners and haulers to traverse more dangerous parts of space, the Biomass producer was destroyed with the intent to slow down nuclear missile production, and the RB facility was hit to reduce the likelihood of buildings being repaired while under attack. "We see this pattern continuing, with key targets being the Maul, Glaive and Sabre facilities, along with the other RB facilities. "Unfortunately, the conflux sentients are using a previously unseen missile, capable of inflicting nuclear damage. While not as potent as the TRI nuclear ordinance, the conflux variant appears to be smaller, lighter, and thus more maneuverable. "Further analysis of strikes to date indicate that these missile are carried by C17-S variants, with C8-S variants being used as scouts or decoys. While the C8-S identifies targets, the C17-S deliver 6-8 missiles in a close cluster before returning to rearm, or being destroyed by defending pilots. This flawed strategy clearly provides us with an interim counter measure, until our scientists identify a longer term solution. We know that conflux missiles are venerable to Amananth's PWD100 device, therefore, a lone pilot equipped with a PWD100, and flying close to the target building, should be able to destroy any incoming missiles before they impact the building. Additional pilots can be deployed to provide additional anti-missile coverage, as well as drone suppression and diversion, leaving the bulk of the pilots to provide tactical interception of the inbound sentient(s) at the earliest possible point. We believe that the application of simple combat strategy, combined with the already superior combat skill of our pilots will provide an adequate defense." TRI has indicated that the Defense Condition will remain at level 3, for the foreseeable future, and reminds pilots to keep beacons tuned, especially those in sectors with anomalies.
