Calatorius, from the Octavian Ministry of War has announced a major
breakthrough in understanding intraconflux communications.
"Over recent weeks, we have been able to analyze data that was not
available, until TRIR-CSD was disbanded," stated Calatorius.
"This data, along with our own, collected from the improved CLAWS array
built by the Empire, has allowed our analysts to succeed where TRI-R repeatedly
failed - namely in understanding the basic command and control structure of
sentient attacks.

"Our analysis indicates, that in the several hours prior to an attack -
typically when the Defense Condition is raised to 2 - conflux communications
chatter is focused around a single hive within Conflux space. This chatter
subsides shortly after the attack, and returns to more balanced levels between
all the hives. It is therefore our understanding, that the hives are being used
as command and control platforms. While the specific hive being used changes for
each attack, it is our belief that destroying the command hive before the attack
starts will severely weaken the ability for the sentients to mount the attack,
and perhaps even prevent the attack from starting in the first place.

"Therefore, we have modified the repeating CLAWS Defense Condition
message to identify the suspected hive, and we strongly suggest that pilots
mount a decisive preemptive strike against whichever sector is identified, as
soon as the Defense Condition is raised to 2.

"Clearly, this discovery could provide us with a critical strategic
advantage, and provide the first step towards taking the fight to the Conflux,
instead of always being on the defensive."*

Anonymous sources within TRI-R have expressed skepticism around the research
performed by Calatorius and his team, and have
urged against unfounded optimism.
