Great Pillars (TRI-FP) - Octave Propulsion Labs, manufacturer of the formerly popular Injustice heavy laser, has been reprimanded by Octavian authorities for reportedly exploring nontraditional options for a production restart. Ill-starred production of the Injustice has been halted for more than a year, with a Cromforge saboteur aided by Quantar pilots most recently responsible for preventing resumption.
"Obviously, OPL has a strong interest in returning this important and necessary equipment to market," stated OPL spokesman Kaeso Cosmas. "We have been engaged in talks by several parties with the mutual goal of once again supplying this fine weapon to our pilots."
A declassified Octavian military document made available to TRINN suggests that recent hostilities between Octavius and Solrain may have been triggered in part by indications that Solrain interests were preparing to purchase Injustice production rights. A separate military policy communique directed to OPL some weeks ago and made available to TRINN, contained these related statements: "Technology release of this nature cannot be tolerated by the Empire. [...] Only domestic options are reasonable for such an important naval weapon."
Ausonius Triarius, responding to TRINN inquiries, asserted, "The Empire is justified in using any means necessary to promote its security, whether the threat be economic or military. Certainly even opportunistic Solrain magnates understand the risks of meddling in internal Imperial affairs."
Cosmas commented further, "We are working to convince our partners in the military establishment that there is urgency for the Empire to restore at least a limited production line. However, our contacts appear preoccupied with other needs relating to the present conflict and I am unable to offer a public timeframe." Meanwhile, Injustice production remains a non-starter.
