Post [TRI News] A Pilot's Eye View Of A Sentient Raid

107.1.14.11:5.33

By Alexa A'vros
TRI-HQ (TRI-FP) - Pilot Reece has submitted the following account of the recent Sentient attack centered around Solrain space."At about 6 p.m. Ekoos KTRI alerted us that the Defense Condition had been elevated from 3 to 2, and that the command hive was in C-2204. I got in contact with some people in Amananth who were going to try to nuke the command hive. I didn't go in a bomber. I was going to try to obtain sentient biomass.

"The C-2204 had some pretty major flux coming out of it, of the nonsentient variety. The last thing I saw before the podride was my target indicator screaming C-25!!!

"After the podride, I felt that the chances of the hive being destroyed were pretty slim, so I started tuning beacons in case I was right. I went across unreg through pulsar and to Amananth from Solrain space. While I was going through Aman space, pilots in Amananth sector reported that the Aman Leap gate had been infested.

"TheRag was making his 8th or 9th single-nuke run on the infest when KTRI announced Defense Condition 1. Sentient markers showed up in Sol space, so I met up with my Solidarity squadmate Zico, and we headed back toward wake.

"By the time we made it to Wake the Sentients had moved on to Cornea. That's where the biggest battle took place. I recall seeing BumbelBee, Adi564, Zico, -DT-, Shinobi, Scarbro, kakee, and I think Nammoc. I know I'm forgetting several, but with sentients about I don't stop to write down names.

"When I jumped into Cornea there was a sentient C17 and sentient C8 reported in the area. The C8 was apparently trying to down Scarbro and was off my radar. The C17 was lurking mysteriously near Cornea station.

"Zico and an Octavian had jumped in with me, so I waited for them to get the C17s attention. Once they had, I snuck up behind the sentient and pulled his brains out with my burglar and insights.

"In the past, that was an especially dangerous thing to do. They seemed to remember me and target me especially. Today however, I managed to scurry off and safely store the biomass and return without any extra attention.

"When I got back to cornea everyone was still fighting the sentients, and there were a ton of jellies around. The C17 seemed to spawn drones to help, though I guess it could have been the sentient C8 that did it. The drones were also
Krakens.

"The C17 was chasing Shinobi, and I was able to flashfire behind it and remove it's innards. I docked at Cornea for fuel and the like, and by the time I launched again the C17 had returned. I took a chance and went after it rather than running to store the 2 units of biomass I had from the last sent. That chance paid off, and I was able to get 2 more units of sentient biomass.

"At that time I bowed out and went to store it. When I returned to Cornea the sentients had seemingly moved on. We all thought that the attack was over, but we were wrong. They showed up in the fields and went from there to Solrain Core. By the time I made it to Solrain Core the other sentient fighters were just finishing them off. I received word that the C8 appeared to have been up to something near the Echo CP.

"We saw another marker in the fields after that. That's when the sentients got sneaky. Once the group of pilots that was fighting them got to the Fields, we heard sent song. Then I noticed something funny with the Sea of Solrain jumpgate. It looked like each of the petals of the jumpgate was emitting a vertical pink line.

"I alerted the pilots, but it was too late. The next thing we knew all of the gates of the fields were infested. I snagged some Biomass from a jelly since they aren't around much any more, and headed to the Solidarity station in the Fields to see if there were any nukes there.

"I got a loose coupling while docking, and by the time I had fixed it the pilots fighting the sentients had been sent on pod rides. Oddly, all of the infestations holding us in had disappeared, with only may squadmate Zico mentioning he nuked one.

"Next the sentients were spotted in Zealots refuge heading towards Quantar or Hyperial, or maybe to come up through Narrow Canal to hit Sol Core again. We all got down there as fast as we could. As we got closer, we saw a map marker indicating they were in Hyperial.

"As we approached Hyperial through the reaches, the sentients came out of Hyperial through Inner Cloud. We fought them in Main Gate, where I was able to down another by extracting biomass, though I only managed to get one unit from this one. I had gotten two units each time previously.

"I went off to store this sentient biomass, and by the time I got back to The Main Gate the sentients had exited the area through the anomaly in Lesser Locks. Shortly thereafter the Defense Condition returned to 3."
