By Alexa A'vros TRI-HQ (TRI-FP) - Earlier this week, Solrain pilot Reece placed 5 units of Conflux Sentient Biomass up for auction, sparking a debate on the ethics of collecting biomass while other pilots risked their ships. "I have my doubts about you and your intentions, stated purge. "A number of brave pilots, with their own set of differences, banned together repel a sentient attack. During that attack, they don't have the services of you or your ship, because you are focused solely on collecting biomass. Leaving the attack several times by your own admission, and coming back to find those brave defenders podded." Reece was quick to respond - "Sentients are very difficult to destroy with conventional weaponry compared to drones. However, like drones, extracting their biomass makes them unstable, and the combination of biomass extraction and conventional weaponry destroys them quite quickly. "Regarding the auction, several entities have expressed interest, but as of yet very few actual bids. I expect things will pick up as the close of the auction on Sunday approaches." When asked to comment, Dr Calatorius, from the Octavian Ministry of War, had this to say: "Thanks to the efforts of Reece, we have the only other sample of Sentient Biomass collected. Our analysis to date has yielded some interesting data, unfortunately without any useful substantial conclusions. While I am disappointed with Reece's decision to profit from the collection, I can certainly understand it - the raw data we have collected so far does indicate that Sentient Biomass could extremely valuable for a variety of applications." Reece also had some tips for others who wished to collect Sentient Biomass: The C8 sentients are much more maneuverable. Less experienced extractors will have an easier time with the C17s. Don't just chase the sentient around. If you can tell he is attacking a certain pilot, sometimes flying toward that pilot is the best way to get close to the sentient. Use a ship with close gun placement and put insights in all gun mounts. The Intensity is perfect for Solrain pilots. Sentients are fast, save your flashfires for your actual extraction attempt. The auction is set to end on 107.01.20, and interested parties should contact Reece directly. Link To Original Article |

Sadly, this report is slightly inaccurate. While Reece did obtain the first sentient biomass in the galaxy, and quite possibly gave/sold it to Calatorius while he was still the TRI conflux guy, the sent biomass Calatorius obtained once working for the Octs has a much more sordid tale.
I obtained it during a sent attack in Amananth. vorlon31 seemed to want to be involved with it, so when I decided to deliver it to Calatorius I let vorlon31 know so he could escort me. Rather than escorting me, he had -Ezekiel pirate the biomass from my hold. Those facts I know. The rumors that followed were that -Ezekiel delivered it to vorlon31. When Calatorius caught wind of what happened, he apparently threated to put an Octavian bounty on all of Flux Clearance if it was not delivered to him. At least, that's what I heard. Since I never saw an Oct bounty on all of FC, I assumed he handed it over. |
