106.1.31.11:39.17
By Rafel Solamis TRI-HQ (TRI-FP) - After several weeks of great success in attacking command hives within conflux space, and averting any major attacks, recent strikes have met with increasing resistance, including what can only be construed as a deliberate trap, set last night, by sentient forces. Dr Calatorius forwarded us this report from pilot JoeStraz, along with a medal nomination for a TRINN Star. "It looks like the sents are learning about our CLAWS warning system and adapting. I have limited experience in hive attacks but the last 2 nights have seen some interesting developments.* "First, last night [106.01.29], when we were close to finishing off the hive, a sent appeared and spawned drones to protect the hive. Up to 6 C12s and a bunch of jellyfish spawned when I got within 5k of the hive. They also infested Pulsar Gate.* "Second, tonight [106.01.30], CLAWS reported Bloody Bay as the command hive. When a strike team entered, they found no hive at all, but sents were there waiting. One pilot reported being followed by a sent from the time he entered Pulsar Gate, all the way to Bloody Bay and back. Once those sents were destroyed, CLAWS reported a new location for the hive and we went to work. Again, sents appeared. This time, C17 & 18s. They managed to trap me in flux space and found me in First Sight before I could roid myself (was in a Roc). I played jump games with it but it spawned C18 drones in First Sight while waiting for me in Depths. Luckily, McPlowed and the strike team were able to bust me out before another infest hit." Dr Calatorius did not seem surprised. 'Ever since we cracked the code to allow us to strike command hives, we expected things to heat up within their space," he said. "These tactics are not surprising, really, and for the moment all we can do is remind pilots that we are taking the fight to the conflux, for perhaps the first time ever. No-one said it would be easy, nor safe. "That being said, information from the front lines, so to speak, is critical, not only to help us identify new counter strategies, but also to keep all pilots informed, so as we may all be best prepared. Reports like this one submitted by JoeStraz are a key element of maintaining our open communications channels." TRI-RMD has confirmed that they have approved the medal award, for JoeStraz's reporting efforts. Link To Original Article |
