Multi-monitor trouble lol

Hey guys:

As many of you already know, Im using a multimonitor setup, well, LCD+Projector. I'm using a geforce fx5200 that has dvi (connected to projector via dvi-2-hdmi) and then the main screen (this Nec connected to the vga connector).

My projector is set so that whenever I use a video player (oddly... browser-based videos dont work) I get the output on my projector, which is neat to watch movies and such.

Some days ago a friend came by with a CD with pictures of his daugher and we thought of watching them on the projector. So, I just 'moved' my explorer window and at a given moment we needed to use firefox so I moved it there as well, double click and voila, full screen on projector.

Ok, here comes the problem.

I dont have the projector turned on all the time, so, next day, daylight hours (in which projector doenst do well since my family room is well lit - by the sun btw), I come to use the computer, load up firefox and voila!!!! noshow. I noticed that whenever I minimized it (by clicking on the taskbar item) it would make an animation as if it were on the other monitor (projector).

No big deal I thought, I simply put the mouse on the top of my main screen, slide to the right, double click, then back to main screen, right click on taskbar item and choose 'move' and then use the keys to simply drag it back to the mainscreen. I did this with the explorer window as well (my computer).

The problem is, once I maximize the explorer window it will remain there, as it should, but firefox, next time I load it up it goes again to the secondary screen, and everytime I boot up, is back to the secondary screen. I can move it back, but its becoming a nuissance.

Any idea on what to do so that it DOESNT MOVE THE HELL AGAIN????

(deep breath)

Ok, I'm calmed again. Any ideas?

ELP

Did you try maximizing the window on the LCD screen instead of just moving it? I have dual monitors at work and when I move a window from one to the other I have to maximize it on the "new" screen I want it homed on in order to keep it there next time it opens.

Yes, I do that everytime after moving the window to the main screen, but still, next time, it keeps loading up on the 2nd monitor.

lol I got it reversed, sorry bout that. Close it while NOT maximized. Sorry bout that. I googled it when I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't work for you and gave myself a bit of a forehead slap when I read this thread on the firefox forum......

Firefox opens on wrong monitor

Re: Multi-monitor trouble lol

Yep, it fixed it, thanks!

Its kind of odd though, as with the rest of the programs you'd have to maximize so that the program sticks to the newest settings u want. This used to happen with notepad as well, not the 2nd monitor behaviour but it would always open up in windowed mode, then to fix it, you open the properties and set it so that runs in maximized and that fixed it for me then.

Agreed, that's exactly why I posted what I did first. I forgot that firefox is "special". :-) Microsoft prob has some kind of patent on maximization on a dual monitor setup....like their latest "page up and page down" key patent. lol
