Force Feedback Pro no longer works in XP?

So I used to use my FF pro in XP all the time, after a couple month hiatus I just tried to reinstall it and windows XP keeps saying there is a problem and check to see if it is connected properly!

I updated sound card drivers etc.. no luck.

Interestingly the joystick is definitely connected as in the moment before the message pops up I am able to move it around and windows shows the input correctly.

Seems to be a driver type issue.... I really like this joystick and dont want to go buy an X-52 unless i absolutely have to.

Has anyone else had this problem

I'm using one in Vista 64 so I would assume it would be fine in XP. The software doesn't work but the stick works just fine. Have you tried a different USB outlet? Maybe the stick has issues.

So, it turns out it does still work. Windows gives the error message, but the controller works in games. No X-52 for me yet.

USB? This is a game port joystick.

Ah it's the older one. I have the FF 2 which is USB.
