Candle wax is what I used to use, however, if you feel like doing a little bit of fiddling.....I took the bottom of an aluminium can(Budwieser 16oz I believe) cut a hole dead center(9/16") and a slot leading to the hole in the center.

Beat it to fit...paint it to match.

I've never had to lube it since.
