Razer Copperhead
Well, today I unplugged my ancient MS InteliMouse Explorer. It's sits there dead and cold, staring back at me as if I am guilty of betrayal. I have had that thing through three systems and it felt like an extension of my hand. Lately though, she has shown signs that time was taking it's toll. I was getting the dreaded video driver resets and cursor freezes. I noticed that it's internal light was flickering. I played with the outlet for the cable and the flickering and driver resets stopped. But I took that as a warning that time was short for my old friend.
I did a lot of research and fondled a lot of mice at B&M stores. After looking at lot's of mice and reading lot's of reviews, I settled on a Razer Copperhead, in Solrain Blue of course. Though they are available in Quantar and Octavius colors as well. As a side note that seems like a great marketing and game packaging opportunity for a certain game we are waiting for eh? I ordered it from Newegg of course and like always it arrived in two days. So there it is next to my equally ancient keyboard. It sure is pretty with all those lights. It feels lighter than a feather. It feels strange though. It's going to take some getting used to that's for sure. Hopefully as time moves on it will become an extension of my hands as I game, surf the web and code more useless stuff. Anyone else have one of these? Feel free to offer up any tips on setting this thing up. I should probably set it to the highest settings and go replay Bioshock. ![]() |

Re: Razer Copperhead
Seems pretty interesting. I'm still using an ol Logitech, and I'm pretty happy with it.
It has the side buttons that you can use while browsing to go "back" and "forward" and I know for a fact I'll never buy a mouse without those buttons again, soo usefull. |

Re: Razer Copperhead
This has the buttons as well. Plus it goes up to 2000 DPI and 1000 Hz on the fly. I like the mouse wheel better than my old one. The old one didn't have any resistance when you turned it. This one does so I don't over scroll. That's a plus so far.
With Cali tax it was $65 Diver. |

Re: Razer Copperhead
Whats the point of higher DPI again? I'm thinking it makes it so you can make smaller movements with the mouse to increase accuracy?
Right now I play a lot of Counterstrike, and I keep my mouse sensitivity really low and use a large area on my desk so I can stay uber accurate. |

Re: Razer Copperhead
I would bet the higher DPI would be nice using photoshop as well.
However my current "low" dpi mouse seems to work just fine. Maybe one of these days when I have a few bucks not being used I'll pick one up to at least test it out, and then return it if I don't think its any better than my current logitech |

Re: Razer Copperhead
Logitech has a high end gaming mouse too that is pretty good. It seemed kind of big to me and most of the reviews I read like the Razer. The nice thing is it actually has built in memory so you can store 5 different preset configurations..
Oooh, I wonder if it is better in Photoshop. |

Re: Razer Copperhead
Why do you need built in memory with "configurations"?
Every game I play, you map the buttons you want to use in the game options... Or can you set it like 1 left click = 500 left clicks, which would roxxor for the old style of brokering faction missions. |
