Saitek X52 Flight Control System vs. MS Precision Pro

Have any of you used both? If so, have you used them both in Jumpgate?

I'm looking for a significant stick upgrade from my current Precision Pro, and due to my wariness of all things e-bay, plus not wanting to wait for an auction to end/make a pay-pal account...I'm thinking about just getting the X52. The X52 pro is a little excessively spendy for a guy like me, but the X52 is doable. But is it worth it?

Are there any of you who can consistently whoop my tail in Jumpgate using one? Is it significantly better than the MS Precision Pro? Is it better at all?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Microsoft ForceFeedback 2. Best.Joystick.Ever.

Don't know a thing about the two models you are talking about, but the 3 logitech and 1 Saitek joysticks i had were all junk.

Too bad they don't make them anymore. See if anyone is selling one used on EBay (sorry you don't trust it). I got mine of of Ebay ($80), good price, works fine. If you want to look for one, note that it has been a few years though since they were out there. Maybe some other ex JGers want to get rid of theirs.

Saitek X52 problem

Have recently switched from a MS Forcefeedback 2 joystick to the Saitek X52. When the X52 is connected the cursor becomes uncontrollable in a short time. I have to reboot in order to fly the next mission. Has anyone experienced this problem? Gus

That's weird, it might have something to do with the nipple on the throttle.

Any joystick that comes with a nipple gets my vote.

Is it attached to Teagan Pressley by chance?

I suppose I'll have to get a new stick when Jumpgate Evolution comes out. I heard you could barely get the FF1 to work on XP with some open-source drivers so I doubt that it is supported on Vista.

I think I addended the review, but the pinky trigger broke like after 2 months on my X52, and I won't ever be giving saitek any more money.

Re: Saitek X52 Flight Control System vs. MS Precision Pro

lol, I seem to remember that you should never buy a Logitech stick either. Mouse/keyboard, yes. Joystick, no.

What drivers did you use in XP for your precision pro? Just the normal 4-axis, 8 button ones? I remember having problems with my FF1 in XP. The controller software wouldn't load so my "virtual spring" (force feedback driven setting) couldn't be adjusted low-med-high like it used to and was stuck on high. This essentially made my joystick like a piece of rebar and aiming was impossible (and tiring).

I seem to recall some FF1 open source drivers out there though... I can't believe that FF2's are 300 on Ebay now. My friend got his for free from his brother-in-law... and I never bought one because I liked my FF1 button layout better... :P

Re: Saitek X52 Flight Control System vs. MS Precision Pro

I have an X45 and I got an X52 for my GF. Out of the 2, I personally like the X45 more, but I used it mostly for WW2 flight sims. For space sims, I think x52 would work better. Also, x45 seems sturdier...
