Xbox 360 Controller for Windows VS Xbox 360 Controller for Xbox
Is there a difference in both wired: Xbox 360 Controller for Windows VS Xbox 360 Controller for Xbox?
Microsoft came out with the wired Xbox 360 Controller for Windows which seems identical to the wired Xbox 360 Controller. Both are USB 2.0 connections. Sure you can take an Xbox 360 Controller and plug it into your Windows PC and it will install the drivers and everything to get it working but, is there actually anything different about the two? Around last Christmas I had wanted one of these Xbox 360 Controllers for Windows so I could see what it was like to play Halo with a controller and learn how to actually use a controller for FPS games today. My whole experience with FPS's has only ever been keyboard and mouse. I liked the feel of the Xbox controller once when I got to play Halo at a friends house on his Xbox. So by the time I wanted to give it a shot and try out a controller I didn't know if there was actually anything different about the two. I'd never played an Xbox 360 before so I didn't know how it's connection looked. So I got a gamestop TSZ pad/Xbox 360 Controller (Licensed by Microsoft) and saw it had the usb end, I figured it was for windows. (Again at the time didn't know the connection was the same). Playing Halo with it was a nightmare, couldn't look around right seemed if I used it i might as well of been standing still. This got me to wondering if the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows was more sensitive to FPS games rather than just the Xbox 360 Controller I seemed to of bought unaware it was just the Xbox 360 Controller for Xbox. The "for Windows" made me think it was better equip for windows. So anyone out there ever find any major differences in the two? I mean, they look identical and are built the same (or so I've seen). Both even have the same break away adapter. Why did Microsoft come out with one that said "for Windows" and one that says "for Xbox"? Thanks. |

Re: Xbox 360 Controller for Windows VS Xbox 360 Controller for Xbox
I can't say for a fact, but I would bet that the only difference is packaging. Meaning that the one for windows comes with the windows drivers.
