Sorted by lowest price, 128 MB video ram.

Video Cards

It really depends on what you have in your system, imo. If you have at least a 2 ghz, DDR Ram capability, and AP 8x, you're good for only a new video card. If you're missing one of the above - WAIT until you get a new system. By that time, card prices will have dropped, and you can get a better deal. That's my advice, anyway.

My computer is a 2 ghz, but it's a celeron. It's only 533 mhz FSB max, too, running at 400 FSB, currently. So, I'm going to wait to upgrade my MX440 until I get a new system. Since I want to play *newer* games, and I want to start some harder-core graphics/3D design, as well, it's especially important. But for games, there's a lot more to it than just the video card - you have to see which "bottlenecks" there are, and diagnose whether those can be upgraded, or if they entail a whole new system.

Mine, imo, entail a new system.

1. Because I hate Intel, after building AMD 64 systems... they rock.
2. Because my mobo has some limitations that will start hurting very soon, and I don't want to be stuck with them
3. Because I basically have hit the "ceiling", as far as technology goes, with my current comp. Even with a P4 to replace the celeron, I'm still taking a performance hit with the 533 FSb, and using an Intel P4 instead of an AMD 64. The AGP is 8x, but it's an older type, too.

personly i upgraded my p4 recently and had to go to a pci slot model i found the extasy 512 meg 9200 card to be afordable and as pci cards go its not bad drawbacks it doesnt have really fast ram on it nor does it have a gpu fan...things i like its affordable $109 at best buy and it is DX 9 i get some slow down in 3dmax once iget alot going but overall thats more a problem with memory on the MB than on the GpB......I also upgraded my wifes machine with the 9200 pro and found it quite good and affordable.....
