Cut the crap, I need sound advice.
Sound advice for my computer that is. Crap being my antique 5.1 system that is just killing me now that only two chanals are working and the sub-woofer has no woof left. So what's good out there for less than $150?
How are the Logitech speakers? Like this one. Newegg.com - Logitech G51 155 watts RMS 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers - Retail |

Re: Cut the crap, I need sound advice.
Well, I'm a bit out of the game with Computer Hardware Accessories as I havn't worked retail for awhile.
But after reading a few review sites, some forums, and feedback, I think these would be a good purchase: Newegg.com - Logitech THX Z-5300e 280 Watts RMS 5.1 Speaker - Retail 2 x 35.25W front, 2 x 35.25W rear, 39W center, 100Watt 35Hz - 20kHz Now, the low end Hz seems a bit high, Personally I'm a big sub guy, so I would want that as close to 20 as possible. however in this price range, it seems thats just not possible. Personally I am using some old (say 5-7 years old) Boston Acoustic computer speakers, and I love them, sadly however, BA doesn't appear to make computer speakers anymore. Hope that helps Jump. |

Re: Cut the crap, I need sound advice.
The one I listed is available at Amazon and with their $20 coupon it would only be $122 with free shipping.
![]() I will have to look up that one there too netburn. It's my old BA system that is now dead that I want to replace. That's the first thing I looked for. |

Re: Cut the crap, I need sound advice.
Yeah, I don't know what I'll do if my BA speakers die, I really like them alot, plenty loud, great bass, and very well built as they have lasted "forever" in technology time.
If I have to replace them I'll probably go with a small receiver and full blown tower speakers. Probably Onkyo brand with Infinity Speakers. |

Re: Cut the crap, I need sound advice.
I know, actually I was asking a few guys at work about what they have/recommend for you, and I was told that about 2 years ago Infinity actually had a set of computer speakers out... I wish I had known, I'd already have my replacement set for when the BAs finally decide to quit...in 20 years lol

Re: Cut the crap, I need sound advice.
On the PC, I have a simple 2.1 system. Nice clean and rich.
The Theater System: Yamaha Digital 5.1 Receiver with Polk Audio surround and a Yamaha powered Sub. The Logitechs arent the greatest but they have lasted a good long while and are good for me... and the price is right... |
