I tried every combination of memory modules, flushed bios, pulled battery over night, took it all apart and cleaned it, re-applied thermal pasted, and still the same problem. I guess it's time to start the RMA process. I am glad now that I purchased the EVGA EAR program. Time to find the invoice.

Ok, kept playing with it and I got it to boot. I have one stick of bad RAM. I wiggled the heat sink on the memory controller so it could still be a bad board that killed the RAM. But only time will tell. Now to get a hold of Crucial.

Yeah, I am running again, less memory for now but that's ok. As long as there isn't a problem with the memory controller. The fact that I couldn't get any sticks to work until I wiggled that heat sink, even after cleaning and reassembling everything, worries me.

It was a bear trying to read 380 posts and about 40 PM's yesterday on that ancient Compaq.

I sent my memory in a week ago (yes it took me a week to get around to calling them) and I got it back today. Crucial is pretty easy to deal with.
